I have had the opportunity to serve is various positions throughout my career. During my first deployment (2005 – 2006) I served as both a Platoon Leader and Aviation Liaison Officer to Third Army. My assignment as the Liaison Officer provided me with an up close view of how the Army operates at the operational and strategic levels. Although my role was small, I was fortunate enough to participate in several planning cells related to the 2006 Lebanon War and personally briefed the Third Army Commanding General on the potential role of Aviation if called upon. As a deployed Company Commander (2010 – 2011), I was responsible for all aviation operations in Kuwait and Southern Iraq. First, as an Army leader, I feel it is important that I continually advance my professional education and apply what I learn to both better my organization and properly prepare younger leaders to deal with the rigors of an every changing operational environment. Second, I view advanced education as the bridge between where my career is when compared to where I would like it to be.
