They contain a will to go further than their expectation in school to outperform others. David Brooks says in the article Mind over Muscle that, “In surveys, kindergarten teachers report that girls are more attentive than boys and more persistent at tasks”. David Brooks uses the tone of empowerment to show that women exceed in education, learning and they pass men in their intelligence. The author wants to explain that boys and girls have different learning abilities and that there education values are different as well. Boys at an early age tend to not want to go to school and learn skills that will help them in the future and girls gain the ability to stay still and listen to what the teachers are trying to say to them. This abilities can lead and effect both boys and girl in different ways. The article states, “through elementary school, girls are less likely to be asked to repeat a grade. They are much less likely to be diagnosed with learning disability”. Boys tend to acquire a disability that affect the way they learn, girls tend to not get it as much as boys do. Also that, “Girls are much more likely to be involved in school paper or yearbook, to be electected to student government and to be members of academic clubs”. This shows that girls are more productive in schools and they thrive to excel in their education. Women have more to show on their college application than boys do because boys tend to play more sports in schools than taking up classes. Girls want to prove that they can do it all in school and surpass men in intellect. David Brooks states that, “they are more likely to take advanced placement courses and the hardest math courses, and are more likely to take to be straight-A students”. This proves that girls are smarter than boys are in learning a subject and that girls want to do the best they can in schools to have a successful life and career.
