Experiences and Reflections from Minority, Crime-Involved Adolescent Fathers Adolescent parenthood is often a struggle for everyone involved. Oftentimes, the mother must decide if she wants to keep her child, abort it, or give it up for adoption. If she decides to keep the child, her parents may or may not become involved in their grandchild’s care. However, there is often the struggle for the father of the child, as he must make the decision as to if he wants to remain in his child’s life or not, or if it is even possible to do so. These struggles only seem to become stronger when the teen father is not only a minority, but also when they are somehow involved with crime. It would seem that the odds would overwhelm the teen fathers can cause them to be absent from their child’s life or to be negligent.
