paid enough they don’t do their best at teaching. The parents let the school systems provide inferior education to the poor and minority groups. Parents aren't holding the schools accountable for how they are educating the children. Most parents don’t even go to the parent teacher conferences. If parents start showing interest in their children’s school such as going to the PTA meetings or even parent teacher conferences they’ll know what kind of teacher and school their children have such as is the teacher educating the child the right way or all around is the school a good school. Teachers tend to say all the time that they don’t get paid enough for the job they are doing. Some slack off and don’t educate at their best because of it. Students should have a right to be educated the right way and a start is that parents need to show some interest. Lack of community support from local businesses in the area is another main cause of why education is inferior to the poor and minority groups.
There are a lot of businesses in the low income areas but none of them are helping the schools in the neighborhoods. In white neighborhoods, businesses are more active through school and auxiliary sponsorships, training, and job opportunities. In a low income area students who are willing to get sponsored or have a job opportunity don’t have the opportunity because of the lack of support from the community as a whole. If the community come together as a whole they can pave a way for the students that want a better education. For example, there are many schools in the low income areas who don’t have enough books to issue the students the community and also local businesses can start fundraising for the students to have books to take home to study. Classroom time is the time you learn and it’s up to the student to take it outside the classroom to study. Also the businesses helping the students get jobs can get them off the streets and keep them out of trouble. If the community show that they care about the student’s education then everyone will put in an effort to make the school willing to give the students the education they
deserve. One of the other reasons could be because there are higher levels of disciplinary incidents in low income and minority schools stemming from the fact that they are low income. For example, its kids getting picked on because of the clothes they wear, what shoes they have on, what their hair looks like, and so on. Therefore, teachers are unable to focus on providing quality education because of having to deal with disciplinary issues for majority of the class period. Not all schools provide uniform. Students want to dress in the latest trends but not all of them can afford. To conclude, training for school officials on how to more effectively engage parents. Community must get involved more. There must be greater effort by local government to address the negative issues that are occurring in local school neighborhoods ...such as illegal activities, lack of economic development, unemployment, and so on. The schools can enforce school uniforms to lower the disciplinary disruptions in the classroom so the teachers can educate with no unnecessary disruptions. Also students, teachers, and parents must work together to prove that the minority groups and poor need the same education as others and are willing to change the statistics.
