The movie of The Wizard of Oz obviously missed many historical document, seeming much simpler and easier to understand than does the book. The movie conducts a message about friendship, adventure, and positive spirit to the audience. And a classical topic of the book, The Wizard of Oz, is fantasy, appealing the interest and attention of the kids. Certainly, the lost content in the movie is related to the violence or dark plot of the book, revealing the real history. The Good Witch who is the first to appear at the beginning of the movie is Glinda, differing from the person, Good Witch of North, who appears at the beginning of the book. It’s a confusion about the Good Witch of North and Glinda, and it might be the proposal of the film that it doesn't want to reveal the plot about “The Dainty China Country” and “The Country of Quadling”. Even when we start reading the book, we all consider the Witch of North as Glinda not until we find that Glinda is the Witch of South country, a totally different fact from the movie. By the way, Dorothy, who is symbolized as the American and Lion break the china church into pieces. Seemed the same in both of the movie and the book, the appearance and color of the Oz is green, indicating to the green back money(US dollar) and its unit, oz, which is the simplify of ounce. However, the fantasy surface of the grand palace and the shining red shoes of Dorothy in the movie can only conduct a breathtaking impression and prevent people from relating the land of oz as the money and Dorothy’s shoes as silver, because the shoes in the movie are changed to red. While both of the book and movie mention the Wizard of Oz is the humbug, the reference of this story can be told that it is a critic to the depression of economy and the one of the worst decision of the US presidents in late 19th
