There is more smoke than fire, and the fire seems to make the room colder rather than warmer. This is symbolic of Miss Havisham, who has allowed family into her house but is not warm to them. She does not want them there, and she accepts them on false pretenses because they come on false pretenses. She thinks they are simply after her money.
I think Dickens included this part of the story because it shows a lot of resemblance between the 2. The fire and Miss Havisham are the 2 that show alot of resemblance. It was because of how he showed the end of Miss Havishman. The fire at Miss Havisham was written at the right time and it was one of the last meetings between Estella and Pip. That is where they first met and the last place. That is why i think Dickens added
