Moana Evaluation
Many movies come across many great scenes that are remembered through many. Although it is not realized that little details are put in to make it great, producers go through much to complete a national hit. Creator of the movie Moana is Ron Clements, known for films as Hercules, princess and the frog, Aladdin and the little mermaid, very well-known director for Pixar films. Moana is about a young girl who goes through an adventure to find Maui, a legend of her hometown and an emerald to save her home from collapsing. The scene I am reviewing and analyzing is a moment where Moana escapes home and visits the forbidden beach. To find her special gift, the waves attempt to communicate by dragging her towards the object (seashell). Moana was a movie full of …show more content…
The staging is that she is excited to grab the shell by how she started jogging towards it. In the acting, she is walking down the beach approaching the waves that appear to be calling out or attracting the child. In Hawaii the setting is placed on the ocean/beach. Consisting of distance, the camera angle is a long shot and eye level. Lighting seems natural due to sunlight and editing is its transitioned into a cut. As seen, mountain and trees are placed in the background as well as the long sea and seashore/beach making it look distant horizontally as the rule of thirds. The staging she looks amazed grabbing the shell but confused. Through the acting aspect, she is standing by the waves as they move holding the seashell. The setting is placed as in Hawaii, the ocean/beach. The distance is long camera shot, eye level. Due to the lighting reflecting off the beach coming from the sun, a natural view is placed. The editing is a transition into a cut. Sound is light music and ocean waves as well as her

When you first look at the painting your eye is drawn to a distinct horizontal line that depicts the horizon over the water. There are also curved lines throughout the piece where the waves are located, many of which make up either the ripples over the sand or waves breaking on the shore. These curved lines are what move your eye from the horizon towards the water moving forward as the wave breaks and moves along the sand.…

She struggles against the ripping force of the ocean current. Her arms are quickly tiring from swimming against it. She relaxes, letting her muscles fall limp. Within seconds, she is pushed out to sea. The people on the beach are so small, little tiny ants against a white sand backdrop. The tall condo skyscrapers are now tiny Lego buildings. The kids hollering and music blasting on the beach is faded like a distant memory. She will die out here, she’s sure of it. Her daughter won’t have a mother’s hand to hold when learning to walk. Her husband will be left a widower, forever broken by the loss of his love. She closes her eyes and accepts her fate as she drifts further out to sea. She floats for a long while, the salinity in the water steadily…

One image is replaced by another with a distinct edge that forms a shape. This film technique was used during the beach scene that Chief Brody was first informed of a possible shark attack. Chief Brody is very tense and is diligently watching the citizens in the water. As people walk back and forth in front of the camera the shots are reestablished on Chiefs Brody’s expressions and then back to the citizens swimming. The wipe effect was successfully executed.…

The water is painted a very light shade of turquoise like something you would see on an island in Hawaii or Puerto Rico. The waves are small but painted white as if they are crashing hard onto the beach. In the background there are rocks and what appears to be a ridgeline that reaches as far as the eye can see. Everything up until the ridgeline is very clearly painted until you look up into the sky and it…

The setting of the painting is not your typical beach like you think of. The water looks like it is at low-tide, puddles still on the wet sand with footprints frozen for the moment until the tide comes back in and washes them away. The brush, light green looking like fall setting in with rocks mixed in, possible showing that the beach is at a foot of a mountain. The shimmers of the water and the reflection of the people gave it a more real life depiction of the area that was painted.…

In "Blood on the Beach", visual design, camera movement, and sound give the audience a sense of anxiety, horror, and dread. The scene opens with a long shot of a young boy walking out of the ominous water. The visual design of the beach uses mostly bright, cheery colors such as different shades of yellow, green, orange, and blue. This sets the mood as playful but anxious. The camera angle is mostly eye level. An editing technique called "eye-line match" is used when Chief Brody sees an older woman in the water floating and a mysterious black figure swims toward her. The sequence is him looking at the water with a straight face, then cuts to the water where the figure is swimming towards the woman, and then back to the chief who has a parnoid tone about him. He then realizes that the figure was an old man swimming. The over-the-shoulder shot is then used to frame and focus in on a girl in the water. When she screams Brody is fearful that the shark is attacking, but we are then shown that it is just her male friend putting her on his shoulders. This scream foreshadows an upcoming shark attack. We have diegetic sound as the kids run into the water. A line from the song "I Honestly Love You" is clearly heard; "But I got something to tell you, that I never thought I would". This refers to Chief Brody knowing about the previous shark attack and not telling anyone about it. As Ellen Brody tries to comfort the Chief, the mood of the movie is the exact opposite. The water splashes and kids scream as the noise on the beach loudens. The camera moves underwater and the non-diegetic noise is heard by the audience. The haunting instrumental music and the point of view shot puts us in…

The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in January 1919 and executed in January 1920. It banned the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors”. This amendment was the finishing touch of decades of realization and fulfillment by organizations such as the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union and the Anti-Saloon League, and was also built upon the dry laws of eighteen states. The Prohibition Amendment had heavy consequences. It categorized the brewing and distilling of alcohol as illegal. It then went on and expanded state and federal governments, inspired new forms of sociability between men and women, and suppressed elements of immigrant and working-class culture. During the Prohibition era’s initial years, amendment supporters were delighted by a drop in arrests for drunkenness,…
