Dance is an extensive term that describes many different forms. There is Ballet and Modern dance, Jazz and Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Ballroom dancing, Irish dancing, Tap dancing, and many other styles. Each style of dance is similar to one another but they are all very unique in their own way and have completely different moves they entail. Ballet is the basis of all forms of dance. It is based on classical technique, grace, and precision. Within Ballet there are many different styles. Vaganova, Balanchine, Cecchetti and RAD are the four main styles of ballet technique. Vaganova is a Russian style of ballet. George Balanchine created his own style known as Balanchine technique. It is different from the other forms of ballet in the way the hands are held, and arms and upper body are used and held. Cecchetti and RAD technique are more European techniques. There is specific technique, moves, and positions for ballet. All the moves and positions have to be precise. Female dancers dance on Pointe during class and ballets.
