Modern Trafficking: Modern Slavery

Trafficking is a form of modern slavery that exists throughout the united states and globally. This uses violence, lies, threats and other forms of coercion to compel adults and children to participate in commercial sex against their will. Under U.S. federal law, any minor under the age of 18 years induced into commercial sex is a victim of sex trafficking—regardless of whether or not the trafficker used force, fraud, or coercion. Unfortunately, there are thousands of children and adults who aren’t lucky enough to escape their traffickers. Most of the victims are mothers and wife’s who will never know what happened to their mom or wife. As for the children the family will know where their children are. They’re being exploited and can't ask anyone for help. The terrifying thing is that this the second largest criminal industry in the world, with trade in illegal drugs first. The global commercial sex trade exploits about one million children. At least 100,000 to 300,000 children are in the united states of America. Traffickers are selling sex with children in big and small cities near you in America.
Most children victimized by trafficking are mostly young, a girl first exploited for sex between the ages of twelve through fourteen.
This doesn't just happen to girls, this can also happen to boys as well. For boys, the average age is even younger between eleven and thirteen. Being a victim of sex trafficking isn’t a life sentence, there are survivors that get their lives back. While many try to escape some actually succeed to tell their stories. Individuals who pay fro sex with children in the united states should be punished. Child victims of sex trafficking are viewed as criminals rather than victims in the united states. According to the department of justice in 2006, 1,600 children were arrested for prostitution and commercialized vice , otherwise assists or promote
prostitution.
