INTRODUCTION
Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Its common elements are pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. And a music genre is a conventional category that identifies pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. Basic music genres include the following: Blues, Classical, Country, Jazz, Pop, Rap, Reggae, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, and Techno.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
Cognitive: acquire the definition of each music genres, also to identify their difference by listening.
Affective: value the different genres, and will appreciate how distinctive and creative are the sounds of each genre.
Psychomotor: differentiate the genres.
