(a) Though we are moving towards modernized society, but still the consumption of alcohol has got a negative stigma attached to it, which goes against the company. (b) In recent years, there has been a focus on the public health concerns related to alcohol consumption, including underage drinking, drunk driving, alcohol abuse, and alcohol dependence which affects the company sales. (c) In an analysis of the Indian National family health survey data of 92,447 households covering 301,984 adult individuals (INFHS, 1998-99), it was observed that scheduled castes and scheduled tribes had higher levels of alcohol consumption. Natural Environment. Another important factor that impacts the is the natural environment. (a) Mohan Meaken company fully relies on the availability of raw materials, which include coarse grains, agave, water, grapes, wood, and glass. The availability of these raw materials is dependent on the growing season. (b) Due to favorable climates crops are widely available, prices for raw materials are very competitive. In contrast, when the crops are scarce, prices for the industry’s crops can be very high. (c) Since weather patterns are difficult to predict, the price for these key inputs for the company are highly volatile.
6. International environment. (a) The Company continues to treat exports as major thrust area, hence the company is deeply impacted by the changes in the foreign exchange rates. (b) The Company’s Products like Old Monk Rum, Solan No.1 Whisky, Golden Eagle Beer, Old Monk 10000 Super Beer and Meakin 10000 Super Strong Beer are exported to 19 countries i.e. U.A.E., U.S.A., Singapore, Qutar, etc. Any curbs on export policies or the bans imposed by these countries can have devastating effect on the

Suppliers. The company is heavily dependent on the suppliers, which include supplies of grains, barley certain vegetables and the sugar products like molasses(made out of sugar cane). The suppliers of these raw materials are not dependent on the Mohan Mekains company and can supply these items to other company, as well as these items can be used by general public in the raw form. Therefore in such a state the suppliers naturally has the higher bargaining powers, wherein they different options of trading other than Mohan Meakens.
