PREFACE
It gives me great pleasure to write a project report of our study tour, which was an unforgettable event in my degree course. Study tour gaves me such memorable moments which I can’t forget through out my life.All my group members enjoyed these moments with great pleasure along with our respected , Prof. A.A.Bharose & Dr.A.M.Dhete; who behaves us in a friendly manner & make the tour more joyful & playful.
Tour was planned from 16/09/10 to 03/10/10 . In these 18 days we visited about nine research institutes which includes;
1) International Crops Research Institute for the Semi aired tropics, Hyderabad,
2)Tamil nadu Agricultural university Coimbatore,
3)Center For Plant Molecular Biology Coimbatore,
4)Forest College And Research Institute TNAU,
5)Sugar cane Breeding Institute Coimbatore ,
6)Kerala Agricultural University Trichur ,
7)IT-BT Complex Trichur,
8)Indian Institute Of Horticulture Research Mysore &
9)Central Food Technology Research Institute Benglore.
During this, we got lot of knowledge about research work & information about the institutes. Along with research institute we have also observed various cultures in India & come to know the actual meaning of “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”.

    Many controversies surround the use of genetically modified organisms in the production of food and crops in the United States and around the world. Although biotechnology has been around for centuries, in the last fifty years scientists have made innovations in the creation of new biotechnologies. Scientists have developed ways of genetically engineering the DNA of plants through genetic modification. Adjustments are made to the development, structure and composition by introducing precise DNA strings either from the same species or that of a variety of other plants (Halford). They modify certain DNA strings to produce desirable traits. We have spent billions of U.S. dollars on research, development and regulation of genetically…

    An area in which Genetically Modified Organisms are relatively prevalent is agriculture. Genetically Modified foods are created to serve the purpose of creating a crop plant for animal or plant utilization. According to Deborah B. Whitman, outcomes of the genetic modifications are desirable and seemingly harmless characteristics such as making the crop more pest resistant, disease resistant, herbicide resistant, or more nutritionally valuable. In addition to these advantages, this technology also has the potential to solve a very serious issue facing less developed countries; the issue of medication and pharmaceutics. Since the development and mass production of vaccination is very costly and requires a high degree of scientific advancement, many third world countries face a challenge when it comes to that aspect. GM food researchers have the ability to potentially integrate medications and vaccines into crops, thus solving this problem. The use of these techniques can also yield more crops which can help solve food shortages. With…

    Few countries have diverse and ancient cultures. India’s can be tracked back for over 5,000 years. The success of the culture has been improved by the waves of migration, which they absorbed in their ways of life. It’s this variety that is a distinguished symbol in India. The religious,…

    In recent decades, people have come to the idea that there is truly something sinister about genetically modified organisms. Contrary to what many people believe, genetically modified organisms possess the ability to juristically benefit the world in a number of positive ways. Genetic engineering can help create a larger production and a longer shelf life for crops, making it possible to safely send and transport them to countries and nations without access to nutritious sources of food, they can also protect and conserve the environment, requiring less pesticides to be used by farmers each year, and they can also alter the nutrition and mineral content, reaching those around the world in fighting malnutrition, a troublesome cause of…

    “Unity in diversity”-the most commonly used quote to describe India. we are all familiar with the video “mile sur mera thumhara”-“let our melodies meet”, it endorses different people coming from all across the country to celebrate our uniqueness and diversity and to unite our country. Raj thackerey a famous marathi politician condemned the producers and proclaimed that all the characters should sing in marathi, when pointed out by a reporter that the video was in the first place used to endorse the integration of multi-cultures, he was thrown out of the politicians residence for using an English word in the question such is the patriotism in our country.…
