While some people equate having wealth and power as being successful, that is often not the case. Although earning and having money is an important aspect of our economy and existence, earning large sums of money is not an accurate way of measuring nor determining if a person is successful or not. Those who find true satisfaction in life, regardless of their wealth or social status, are the ones who have reached true success. As put into words by award-winning author Maya Angelou, "success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." True success is achieved when an individual has reached a point in their life where their goals and achievements are meaningful and…

Most people measure success monetarily. We spend the majority of our lives working towards success (“Defining success”). The word “success” is defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary as the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence. Individuals who would be considered successful in this generation are Kim Kardashian or even Justin Bieber. These celebrities simply live in the moment, without thinking about what their goals are. Everyone wants to be known for something. Success takes several different forms but because of societal issues we have lost sight of its true definition. To be successful is to have a purpose, to know where you're at, to know where you're going and to not be afraid to work for it.…

It cannot be taken for granted that all human beings are born with the physical traits that would fuel them smoothly to their destinies. However, as the film Gattaca reveals, success is “by no means guaranteed” to only perfect beings, just as it is not completely unreachable by weak beings. Niccol reveals that through fortitude and commitment, even a weak individual can take hold of his or her dreams and create unexpected twists in the society. He also shows how one’s determination, the ability to strive for a dream no matter how hard it is to achieve, stands on a higher level of importance than one’s “resume” in the path to success.…

I used to talk with my friends about my dreams, such as being a host in a TV show or composing music. When the conversation ended, I always took them lightly and was easy to give up or forget them. However, one day I talked with a friend about my dream to be a violinist. He said to me, " Hey, go for it. It sounds very good." For the first time, I was surprised at the easy description about my pursuing dream. And then I asked myself "Why do I stay put and fear to learn how to play violin." "Yes," I said to him, " like a child that are willing to do everything, I should give it a shot and step forth even if I would therefore stumble down."…
