Money: Hard Money In The United States
Despite the rising popularity of digital payments in modern times, cash remains to be king, as proven by the 87-percent growth in the amount of American currency in global circulation in the past decade, says the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, reported CNN.

CNN said it included “hard money held by banks, businesses, investors and ordinary people.”

Hard money often refers to coin money, with soft money being paper money.

From $783 billion back in 2006, the amount of US dollars circulating in the world reached $1.46 trillion in 2016, according to a study that served as a reference for the San Francisco Fed.

Another study, this time conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, reckoned that more of these dollars are held by people

In the selection "Nickeled and Dimed in America" the author talks about the struggles that a maid faces every day. How they make minimal money to follow absurd rules and get treated like a second hand citizen daily. They would not be able to smoke before work, or during work, curse, even if there is no one in the house. The maid service companies would also charge 25 dollars, the maids would only make $6.65 for each hour that they have worked. For the amount of work that a maid, or someone who works inside cleaning a house does, they deserve a lot more than just $6.65 and hour, which no one can make a life off of that anyways.…

In the book Money and Class in America, Lewis Lapham claims that American culture idolizes the wealthy, believing that wealth is necessarily belied by quality of character and wisdom. He gives both cross-cultural and cross-historical examples to show that other cultures and at other times the highest esteem was given not only to the wealthy, but also to the intellectual, the powerful, and the artistic individuals of those societies. In contrast Lapham discusses Americans’ idolization of the wealthy, as well as their conflation of wealth and individual merit and worth. He then questions if Americans -- a supposedly egalitarian people who are all created equal. Nonetheless, this cult of wealth still pervades, though seemingly there is nothing to cause it, as similar nations are not afflicted by such an absurd ardor.…

The Atlantics Conor Friedersdoft wrote in "Why Killing Cash Makes Sense", that, "An end to cash would mean that every financial transaction is exposed to a third party," making everyone's spending history searchable by authorities and available to banks and other industries that might not have our best interests in mind."(Davidson). With digital money, every transaction is traceable, and many people that are not trustworthy may be able to see these transactions. This infringes on your privacy as a citizen. To add on to that, Kevin Cochrane stated in "The upsides and downsides to eliminating paper currency" that, "With no currency, every transaction flows through some electronic system where it's ultimately available to anyone that can access it: bank employees, government agencies, even hackers."(Cochrane). Every purchase you make will be recorded, and anyone who can access your account can see it. Your money is not protected well. People will spend all day being anxious, hoping, that when they return home, they will have a full bank…

Money; There are huge varieties of thoughts and ideas of what comes to mind when thinking of money. It may include happiness, luxury, or for some, the root of all problems. As money is an essential part of life, money alone cannot buy happiness but instead creates distress, causing downfalls to one’s being. In Willa Cather’s “Paul’s Case,” Paul, the protagonist views money as the key to escape his poor life and live the fabulous life he deserves. As other factors shape Paul’s way of viewing money as the escape route, it only leads him to an undesirable path. Paul’s misunderstanding of the value of money leads to unrelenting disappointments, resulting in his tragic downfall.…

Sometimes, money becomes a need. But it doesn't mean that it should take control of your life. BE WISE! Don't be fooled by what it can do to your life, when a lot of other people are in need of it, too. This article pertains to the people who think they're so powerful just because they have been blessed by this kind of necessity, or should I say, pieces of paper. Sometimes I'd think and ask myself this, why is it that some rich people win court trials even if they're the accused ones? Why is it, that criminals gain money through stealing when they can always try and look for jobs instead? People these days are becoming so lazy and proud that it causes a very imbalance environment. Corruption, poverty, etc. These kind of phenomena are caused by only one living being on Earth. Need I say more? It's very disappointing that crimes are getting higher these days. It's like, a whole new world. And no, I'm not talking about the movie Aladdin here. It's such a shame that politicians keep on talking about a lot of things like, "We should help together!" bla bla bla bla. Yeah, how's it going for y'all? And it's not just the politicians. We have the country people, themselves. Why is it that they want politicians to change the economical state of the country when they can't even start on their environmental improvement first? It's such a shame that people are beginning to be very much stubborn just so they won't make too much effort on the improvement and stuff. Must I ask, how will the government officials help the people, if the people themselves aren't even trying their bests to help themselves, too? Like for example, the flooding issues on the different parts of the country. Yes, you all did your best to actually evacuate and save yourselves for the incidents. One big question, how many times have these incidents happened within your areas? Before we even start blaming others, let's ask ourselves first, didn't we contribute to the…
