Often in novels, the author is able to personify and use the setting as an imperative aspect of a story such that it could almost take the form of a character. For Homer Hickam Jr. (Sonny), Coalwood was not only his hometown, but it became his motivation to continue building and launching his rockets. Every house in Coalwood was occupied with families of coal miners, and for someone to participate in another activity besides football was rare and often discouraged. “Only coal mining was more important in Coalwood than high school football. Sputnik, and anything else, was going to always come in a distant third” (Hickam Jr. 27). It was known that if a male student didn’t receive a football scholarship, than they were either going to join the…

N. Scott Momaday, in the memoir “The Way to Rainy Mountain”, traced the ancestral roots of his tribe back to the start of the Kiowa tribe. Momaday had always known about his ancestry but the death of his grandmother, Aho, prompted him to seek an in-depth personal exploration of his family history and background. Therefore, Momaday went back to his grandmother's residence and he observed that the spirit of the Kiowa tribe was faint but still very stirring. When he travelled to Aho’s house after her death, he’s looking to build a connection with his ancestors. Momaday felt that he could learn a lot of things and gain some insight from his visit to the motherland. From this article, it is evident that the Kiowa people were very spiritual and had an unbending love for nature because they strived to preserve the environment and performed spiritual dances and rituals in veneration to the sun. This memoir is an embodiment of the Kiowa culture, and N. Scott Momaday gives the reader a succession of oral narratives from the Kiowa community.…
It’s your typical cop movie, findable on the local channels. Two police officers claim to use their power for the good of the people, but find out how much easier it is to take matters into their own hands. Although we all can get this on our television for free, director Tazewell Thompson takes Keith Huff’s “A Steady Rain” and turns it into something worth paying for, or did he? The set is completely simple; as a matter of fact I must say it is very uncreative. There are two seats in the front and several are lined up in the back making two single rows. In the far back and sides of the stage, there are blinds with cracks in it as if people have been peeping through them. No art work, not even a coffee table, just chairs and blinds surrounded the stage. It took a while but it hit me, it is an interrogation room. Now, the only thing I predict coming is be a waste of hard earn money and angry people in the audience asking for a refund. But when the two actors came out and started to talk to the audience as if we were a part of the act, it startled me and caught my attention. I’m really in for the night of my life and if you were in my shoes, you’ll be to. This is definitely not your typical play; loyalty, friendship, and lives are at stake. Huff wants us to understand that it does not matter how long or how close you are with someone because in a split second they can betray you.…

People are still indecisive about whether or not the normalized utilization of technology in their lives is a positive or negative commodity. Consequently, the easy access to things people once had to work for leads to an inevitable laziness that ensues with the internet at their fingertips. Unnecessary frivolities of the human mind, as well as the weakened ambition to acquire knowledge. Ray Bradbury explicitly stated in his short story, August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains (1950), that technology would be humankind’s downfall. Nevertheless, he is objectively incorrect in his assumption, as technological advancements have improved living conditions for people around the world.…

In their journey back to Los Angeles, Raymond nearly drives Charlie crazy with the maddening characteristics that are a function of his autism While, Raymond has a profound influence on Charlie, and so Charlie finally grows to love and accept his brother exactly as he is. I chose this character Raymond because he is interesting, suffering from psychology problem that we can call it autism and he showed us how these people are have a special capacity to do unordinary skill, some time their mind work such as the computer. Furthermore, there are four main characters in the movie, Charlie, Raymond Susanna…
