placing package slips inside of residents’ mail boxes, and releasing packages to the residents as well. Sometimes, she even has to search for residents mail box numbers if the package does not indicate it. Nonetheless, Morgan seems to love every detail of her job and it is very apparent. Morgan would describe herself as very social and outgoing, and I believe this coincides perfectly with her job and her major. Additionally, I think she is very friendly and this is a good quality that can help her and take her far in her career. Hocking chose to major in speech language pathology, which is the study and treatment of speech and language problems. Morgan originally aspired to be a counselor, but she decided to change her mind based off of the advice of a long time mentor telling her that is was prominent it was a field that she was not too passionate about. She now envisions herself working in a school setting, hospital, or rehab center in the future. Although, Indiana State University was Morgan’s third choice, she decided to attend the school because of the many different scholarships that were offered to her.
Morgan is currently not involved in any extracurricular activities on campus, however, she was very involved in high school. She was on her high school’s varsity cheerleading team and the captain of her show choir. Currently, Hocking chooses to spend her free time playing board games, hanging out with friends, or studying. In light of volunteer work, Morgan has not found any opportunities which sparked her interest. However, she has contacted the Crisis Pregnancy Center to see if there’s any way that she can help. Her goal is really to work with younger children, babies to be exact. Previously, in her hometown, she did volunteer work with a youth cheerleading program. Morgan’s main responsibility with the youth cheerleading program was to act as a coach figure and also help them with routines. another. She basically feels as if there is unnecessarily too much hate and bickering among citizens due to racial differences. Morgan seems to wish that everyone could just learn to get along, accept and appreciate each other’s differences, and let go of all of the stereotypes that have been circulating in our country for decades. I completely agree with Morgan’s opinion and I truly would love to see the same for our country. Additionally, I would love to see the long awaited equality and justice for African Americans.
