His characteristics can be seen in many modern day characters. Sir Lancelot is a knight under King Arthur, and he is considered one of the best. Although, his loyalties should reside with the king, the reader can clearly see they are with Queen Guinevere. Lancelot is very similar to the modern day character from Game of Thrones, Jaime Lannister. These characters are similar in their actions and loyalties. In the show, Lannister is supposed to be loyal to king in which he serves, similar to Lancelot. In reality, his loyalties reside with the one he loves, whom is his sister. In both stories, mayhem would arise if their relationships are found out. Additionally, he is a high ranking knight similar to Lancelot. These characters directly relate to the show. The court is responsible for helping make decisions. Among the members of the court is Gawain. Gawain is portrayed as for the people, and he is highly respected by the people of Camelot. This can be seen as he is presented with the information about the affair between the Queen and Lancelot. He stated that he knew the repercussions would be an all out war among the kingdom, and he believed it was best to keep this information between them for the sake of the people. In “Game of Thrones,” lord Varys shows similar traits. In the beginning of the saga, Lord Varys is presented with many important secrets that could possibly ruin all of Westeros. His loyalties are with the people of his kingdom. Also, he is described to be very courageous and tried to better the world. In the story, he is killed because he learned about the affair.
