"The Most Dangerous Game" is a short story written by Richard Connell. This story takes place in the 1920s in an island. The main characters are Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff. Rainsford is a famous hunter and Zaroff is a Russian who served for his country in WW1. They both enjoy hunting but they disagree on the targets they use. Zaroff likes to hunt humans because they are the most dangerous game. So they have a confrontation because Rainsford wouldn 't hunt some humans that got stuck on the island. So they have a confrontation and at the end Rainsford kills Zaroff. This story is being influenced by Richard Connell, WW1, and the history of hunting. Richard Connell was born on October 17, 1893 in Poughkeepsie, New York and died on November 22, 1949 from a heart attack. He was the son of Richard Connell Sr. and Mary Connell. His dad was the reporter and editor Poughkeepsie News-Press. So when he was just ten he covered baseball games for ten cents an hour. He graduated from Harvard in1915. Later he enlisted and served with the 27th New York Division in World War 1. There he became the editor of the camps newspaper. In 1919 he got married with Louise Fox. After that his career started to take off, he started to write short stories. He won two O. Henry Memorial Prizes and his story "The Most Dangerous Game" is considered one of the best short stories of all time. After his successful story writing carrier he began to write screen plays. He was nominated for two Academy Awards but never won one. He affected the story because he was in the military and so he is a hunter. In the military his targets were humans just like General
