Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a passion for swimming. I started swimming at a very young age of two years old. I knew that once I got into high school that I would want to be on the swim team, to be part of something bigger than myself and have people count on me to do my very best. My whole life I have been told to work hard and try my best, from my parents to my teachers and coaches. I love swimming and participating on the school swim team has been a dream come true. I enjoy the feeling of being able to push myself as far as I can and want to go. My coach has been an inspiration to me that I cannot explain in words. She believes in every one of us and that we will be great. It takes hard work and dedication to be an athlete but if you set your mind to it, you can achieve anything. The entire team and I have unquestionably put in the time and effort through the hours of practicing to achieve our goals and be our best. I have participated on the school swim team for four years. I have enjoyed and appreciated every moment of it. The coach and the team are my second family and it seems like I am in the pool more than my own house. Being on a team has taught me to not think about only myself but to concentrate others to make the team stronger and better. What makes a great team is encouragement and believing in one another. Having the team at the end of the pool cheering you on is the greatest feeling. It shows how much they care about you and that they believe in you. Not only myself but everyone on the team are excellent examples of good sportsmanship. I’m proud to say that I am part of the 400 free style relay that broke the school record. We worked so hard and I now know what it takes to get something you set your mind on. We would not have been able to accomplish that if the entire team was not rooting for us. This past year the school and swim team came up with a brilliant idea to improve our future
