Mount Saint Charles Academy-Personal Narrative Analysis
“I attract a crowd, not because I’m an extrovert, or I’m over the top, or I’m oozing with charisma. It’s because I care.” (Gary Vaynerchuk). This quote closely resembles one of the qualities of a liberally educated person, “They nurture and empower the people around them.” One excellent example of this is the sense of community at Mount Saint Charles Academy. Throughout my high school career, I have made so many memories with various individuals. I remember, my first day at Mount in 8th grade, I was heading to the locker room from TC and I fell down the stairs and took out three people with me. One person that fell down with me became my best friend that year. Another memory was back freshman year. I love how our entire school comes together
most years for the championship hockey game and cheer on the boy’s varsity team. Another significant memory was freshman year when Ben Rizzo kicked Alyssa Piampiano’s knee so she’d fall and she ended up popping her knee out and went to the hospital by ambulance. All of these moments turned into memories and have made the Mount experience unique. We all laugh, cheer and bond over moments like this together. This quality, “They nurture and empower the people around them” is by far the most important quality preventing us from a dehumanizing world portrayed in “1984” or “Brave New World”. In 1984, nothing is written down and history is altered which enables the government to control the future. Liberally educated people are a unique and empowering group made up of many different individuals. 1984 prevented people from being unique and making memories with people because if the person were “vaporized”, people would remember the individual, which could potentially spark a rebellion. I couldn’t imagine my life without the memories Ive made all over the world with so many people. It is vital to any society to come together as one and cheer each other on in their successes and take care of one another. This is the major attribute needed to prevent a dehumanizing society shown in “1984” and “Brave New World”.
