The reason I grow a moustache every November is to support a charity called The Movember Foundation. The Movember Foundation is a charity that I’m really supportive of because of the work they’re doing to address some of the biggest men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
Additionally, as many of you know, in addition to being a student at U of M, I’m a full time referee in USA Hockeys Officiating Development Program (the ODP). Every year, the members of the ODP, and many in the hockey community, grow moustaches to raise awareness for Movember. Although we’ve raised awareness, we’ve never actually made a tangible impact by raising money. I …show more content…
thought this should change, so I decided to create “Team MoDP,” a Movember team consisting of members of the ODP. To date, we’ve collectively raised $2,890 as a team, which is a lot more than I expected so far for our first year!
Many in the office that I’ve talked to have asked about what link they could use to donate.
Here is the link to my individual Movember page: https://mobro.co/brianhankes?mc=1
For those of you that didn’t know I was doing this, or haven’t asked me about it, I’d really appreciate it if you would consider making a donation. On a personal note, It’s a cause I’m really passionate about because of the work they’re doing specifically with mental health/suicide awareness. It’s an issue that I’ve seen affect two of my close friends at school, and can just as easily affect any one of us, our friends, family or loved ones. I also that I think unfairly gets stigmatized, and I think this should change; so I’m glad Team MoDP will be able to make a small impact and help Movember raise the most amount of money possible.
Additionally, Gary Taverna sent me a link where any donations of “$50 or more, up to $1,000” made to 501(c)(3)’s, like Movember, will be matched by U.S. Bank after entering your donation into the following
