Persuasive Speech: My First Pan-Mass Challenge
Hello Family and Friends.
I am writing you today to ask for your support. This year, on Saturday, August 5, I will be riding in my first Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), from Wellesley to Bourne. The PMC raises money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. My employer, Waters Technologies Corporation, is sponsoring a team for the first time, so I decided to join “Team Waters.” I will be riding in honor of my Mom, a breast cancer survivor and in memory of my sister, Jayne, who on May 17, 2017 lost her battle to liver and colon cancer.
I need to raise $4,000.00 and with your assistance I am hoping to exceed this goal.

Donations are tax deductible and can be made in various ways:

You may donate directly under my name at the following site: http://pmc.org/egifts/SB0430.

You may donate directly to “Team Waters” at http://profile.pmc.org/TW0160 and the proceeds will be distributed among the team.

If your company has a matching gift program please remember to complete the matching gifts information with your company and double your donation. Matching requests do need to be made before June 30, 2017 so that they will be paid before the fundraising deadline.

Last year the PMC presented Dana Farber Cancer Institute with a gift of over $40 million and this year is looking to exceed this amount. If you would like to know more about the PMC please visit their website at www.pmc.org.

Thank you for your support it means so much to me.

Just last year, my company set up a Breast Cancer walk that both brought recognition of this hardship and helped one of our fellow cadet’s mothers to keep battling through knowing there were hundreds of people supporting her. I was able to assist in the preparation of this event and help keep things in order the day of for a successful night filled with knowledge and fun. This was and still is a serious cause; Those who helped make it possible and attended the event gained a greater respect for each other. At the end of the night, I’m positive many people felt better about themselves for sharing their knowledge, gaining knowledge,…

LIVESTRONG, an organization created by one of the worlds best cyclists, Lance Armstrong, and cancer survivor, Doug Ulman, has been highly successful in raising awareness and helping the cause against cancer over the past years. Not only has the organization touched the lives of millions of people, but it also has raised millions of dollars to fund the fight against this worldwide disease. The foundation fights to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and works in two areas: One by directly supporting survivors(people facing cancer and their family) and the other is by creating a global movement to battle the disease. Although the organization is relatively small with fewer than 90 employees based in one city, it has grown to be highly…

Three years ago my friend Amy and I were looking for a way to bring customers into Behm’s Sawdust City while helping the community. After about a month of throwing ideas around Amy came across an advertisement for Toys for Tots, and we decided that this would be a great way to bring people in and help the community. Little did we know that it would be a huge success! Every year we have had to become more organized. The first time we get together we decide on what band we are going to try and book and where we are going to ask for donations. Next we split up and go to different businesses and individuals that have donated in the past or may want to donate this year. Finally we advertise for the dance and start looking for volunteers to help.…

Gordy Klatt is someone who proved that “one person can make a big difference in the world”. In April 2010 Klatt received the terrible news that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer at the age of sixty seven. Klatt released a statement saying “Throughout the years I have spoken and written about how cancer can personally affect everyone. It affects the rich, the poor, and all nationalities and cultures around the world. About 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with stomach cancer and I have begun my battle with this disease using chemotherapy.” Klatt’s utopian impulse grew even more driving him everyday to wake up and fight the grueling fight against cancer. Klatt released another statement saying “I am even more energized to defeat this disease worldwide. I will again be with all of you in spirit this Relay season – even more so this year. Celebrate the survivors; remember those who lost the battle and fight back! We all need to celebrate more birthdays and by relaying we keep the hope alive through education, community involvement and fundraising for ongoing research.” The vice president for Relay for life encouraged participants to rally around the founder and support Relay for Life even more so by saying “The best way we can pay tribute and honor Gordy is to redouble our efforts in the 2012 Relay season … adding one more team, one more team member or one more additional donation…. and creating an extra meaningful Relay experience for those touched by that Relay spirit…

Here in Houston there’s a non-profit organization by the name of, “The Care Zone.” The care zone assists single parents, low income families and loyal students in the greater Houston area. The ceo and founder of the care zone is Chung “Chad” Kim, a refugee of Cambodia. Mr.Kim, founded the care zone in 2009 so his organization is still very new to the community and the city. Even though the organization is still fairly new, they’ve made it capable for others to communicate with them as well as being able to communicate with the community. If a person is willing to donate a totaled vehicle or just an old vehicle they no longer want and would love a tax write off, a person would only need to fill out the “contact us” form found on the care zone website and representative would contact them on their next moves. Since the care zone does assist clients, they much like all other human service professionals want to see growth from the…
