We understand from the CPS assessment and interview with (SU) there was a safety plan initiated involving the paternal aunt as a Safety Service Provider (SSP). Mother and child stayed with her as father already had planned to stay with a relative. It is reported and documented that father had his bags packed by the time LEA and CPS went to the home on October 8, 2015. We understand the safety plan was in place for less than a week as mother then moved back home with child and agreed to have friends check in on her. Parents were very cooperative and able to plan parenting time accordingly and were in the process of initiating divorce/custody proceedings. Our understanding is the father was never restricted from contact with the child by DHS—on the night of October 8, 2015 we understand Mr. Lasich stated he would stay away from his sister’s home until everything was sorted out.…

For Tom Martin I would have to release him from the Family Support Services Center because of the complaint to a former female client in which Tom had made inappropriate sexual comments, bought her presents, and had an out of the office date and bribery. Even though Tom had denied any of these accusations, the client is always right and in this case it doesn’t matter if the client was lying or not, Tom stated the he was attracted to his female clients. He also had two previous complaints and had four previous clients who terminated their sessions without any explanation.…

The relationship between a social worker and the children they represent in the foster care system evolves many different emotional connections. Social workers provide counseling and direction to people in crisis. Their clients may vary from the young and older unemployed to young children who are in need of foster homes right on down to the elderly people who have no one to care for them to provide for them or even someone to love them. They try to better the clients by helping them obtain government funds, education, and other treatments if needed.…
The aim of this paper is to examine the diagnosis of attachment disorder and it’s relationship to children within the foster care system. The prevalence of children placed into foster care as well as the circumstances that put them there are examined. Attachment and attachment disorder are discussed and defined. This article targets the current treatment methods and considers the aspects specific to children within the foster care system that affect how those treatments will work. An absence of established diagnosis and treatment criteria is discussed as well as current efforts to combine the previously known and well-established information on attachment and current issues related to children in the foster care system. Overall the lack of proper diagnosis and treatment models are leaving children who are already vulnerable with an illness that will affect the rest of their lives and those around them.…
The negative effects of the system on foster children prove how the system fails to improve the lives of the kids it pledges to help and how critical it is that the government make an effort to improve foster agencies. No one would argue against how much kids need responsible adults in their lives. Most children, especially foster children many of whom have suffered abuse and neglect, need someone to keep them responsible and in line until they are old enough to mature and develop their own moral code. Several studies found that foster children are at a higher risk of becoming high school dropouts, homeless, incarcerated, or addicted to drugs. In addition, reports link foster children with having 15% lower standardized test scores and…
Foster care started in the 1500’s because of the overwhelming number of children without parents and, therefore, homes. The biggest reason there were so many children without guardians was because this was a time when many people had to resort to indentured servitude to survive. There were also many more people dying from now-preventable or now-curable diseases, and when parents died, their kids would join the other orphans in the streets. The number of children on the streets was a problem for many reasons, including moral obligations, excessive thieving problems and the vandalization of homes and businesses. The government had to come up with a way to get these kids off the streets, and their solution was foster care.…
