Good Teacher
In my last 15 years of school I’ve had many good teachers as well as bad teachers, but none of them compare to my football coach/computer teacher Mr. Pasch. Mr. Pasch not only taught me a lot about computers and football, but also much more about life. Mr. Pasch taught me that quitters never win, that when you quit the first time it will be easier to quit again and for the rest of your life you will always quit when it gets hard. Mr. Pasch installed in me his discipline, respect and motivation. Mr. Pasch came to my high school my junior year as our new football coach and I didn’t like him because he was replacing my old coach, but he seemed to know what he was talking about not only in football

My name is Grace Arvesen and I am currently a sophomore at Marist High School. When I think of great teachers, although I’ve had many, one comes to mind right away. Her name is Colleen Biszewski and was my 7th and 8th grade math and science teacher at Queen of Martyrs School. Not only did Mrs. Biszewski prepare us academically, but she helped us practice good Christian values. In addition, she was accessible for all students, treating everyone with fairness.…

2&3Professor Brunkhorst is such an interesting story teller; it’s not just the work he does-all professors have to do work. Unlike all other teachers that I have had, however, he goes above and beyond. He gives me one-on-one support. With his support, I am able to talk with him about coaching and teaching careers. To be exact, I can say he has lead me to career preferences. In addition, he and I we both…

Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the beginning of my teaching career. My goal is to be sharp, skilled, creative and effective as a teacher and leader so that I can significantly influence the organization and overall culture of my school, other teachers, students, and the community. A necessary attribute of a great teacher should be the desire to seek ways to improve learning for all children. I am committed to learning and developing the knowledge and skills that a great leader needs to make a difference in education. I believe all students can have academic success.…

Mr. Gibson’s insights were very helpful on a human level. The instructor viewed us both as students as well as young adults, something a great deal of instructors struggle with later in their career. His focus on teaching explained this as well. When he said ‘To help others is the most selfish thing a person can do.’ it became apparent how wise this man was. Mr. Gibson to teaching because…

I ended up going to Richland Community College due to my lack of education and the consequences of slacking during high school. I’ve never been the brightest child nor did I take education really seriously while I was in high school. Playing video games on constant basis did not help with my GPA at all. From the video games to the testing anxiety, it made me just want to skip through high school and go to college. But neglecting school work has finally come to a toll as I took the ACT and the SAT with terrible scores due to my testing anxiety. I’ve come to Richland Community College for assistance and for a better start on my education. Hopefully…

Life is a cycle of learning in which we learn every day by experiences, anecdotes or by someone else. Now, it is hard to find a person who really cares about us or at least someone who wants to help us to succeed in the future. However, we found that there are some special teachers that are a great example of learning how to succeed in life. In the two stories of “my favorite teacher” by Thomas L. Friedman, and “Unforgettable Miss Bessie” by Carl T. Rowan, we find two incomparable persons who made a change in their students’ life. They both were a motivating influence for their students. Carl Rowan’s teacher Miss Bessie and Thomas Friedman’s teacher Hattie Steinberg…

The reason for school is to get an education. But what is that? Some say to get a better career and make more money or become smarter in general. But the main reason that school was invented was to teach children to read and write. That is it. After students were able to read and write then came the math, history, and science. Growing up I loved learning how to read and write, but to a certain degree. After I got pretty good at reading and writing, which I’d say took until 4th grade to be able to write essays well and read at a high level, teachers would assign reading and writing assignments on the stupidest subjects. For an example cursive writing was the biggest waste of energy I…

One name in particular stands firm among others and that is Mr. Jesse L. Barrett. Mr. Barrett was my English II Honors teacher my sophomore year in high school. Sadly, he was only my English teacher for one year. I honestly could not have asked for a better teacher. At the same time as making me smile and laugh, he ultimately helped me to be successful in life. Initially, I did not enjoy English as much anymore due to a bad string of teachers who lectured endlessly on random topics other than English. He changed my outlook on life and helped me regain my passion for English. Mr. Barrett motivated me to not settle for mediocre work and to do my absolute best in anything I strived for. I never imagined that I would encounter a teacher that was as meticulous as Mr. Barrett. Everything he did had a specific place and order. He never accepted late work because we were in an honors class that required you to be punctual. This taught me how to be prompt, a skill that will help when I attend college next fall.…

Mr. Schnabel has taught me to persevere, give my all in all that I do, and pour my heart into doing what I love. He has been my orchestra instructor since fifth grade. He’s handed me difficult pieces, but I’ve learned that challenge is important in order to grow and excel. He helps me find ways to push myself; I will never be done learning or growing. There is always room to improve, as Mr. Schnabel heavily addresses in his classroom. Having said this, he has helped me accept myself and recognize my talents, as well. He has taught me lessons that will benefit me both in and outside of a classroom. The past four years with him have taught me, if nothing else, the significance of putting out love and kindness into the world, of lifting others up and being a leader, an uplifter. He has taught all of his students that perseverance and determination pay off. This man is in his early fifties and is already retiring. That’s crazy. He inspires and…

Reading the web is not the same as reading in the book or magazine or even newspaper. The information that you read from the internet may not stick with you as long as it would if you were to read a book, newspaper, magazine, or journal. This can’t be a hundred percent accurate for everyone, but according to most people that I have questioned, the information that they read from the web/internet doesn’t stick with them as long as it does when they read an actual book, newspaper, or magazine.…
