One thing would do differently is I would focus a lot on making it clear to Jake why cursing is not okay. I think it’s important that Jake understand that his behavior is not appropriate and why it is not. Jake may or may not think that his behavior is inappropriate. It is likely that Jake did observe this behavior. In my opinion he had to learn it from somewhere. If it has been observed that the father swears I do see why Sean would assume that he got it from his father. However, I think in this situation it doesn’t matter so much where he learned the behavior from. What matters is how the behavior is going to be corrected. In my opinion it can be likely that this type of behavior is dealt with effectively. In the heat of the moment I believe that a teacher is going to want to react immediately to this type of behavior. The reaction is all depending on the teacher and themselves and their practices. I believe that the automatic reaction is likely to either be dripline or explaining why cursing is not okay. Even if a teacher decides to discipline the child for cursing the teacher still would hopefully tell the child why they are punishing him or her.
