Understand The Importance Of Positive Child Guidance
I believe that understanding the definition of positive child guidance and also how to
apply it to the classroom is very important. In order to create a respectful and supportive
environment for the teacher, for the children, and also for the parents, the teacher should have a
clear understanding of how to incorporate positive child guidance within the classroom and also
have set goals on how to accomplish it in the classroom. The definition of positive guidance is equipping children to be independent and helping
the children develop self control in a positive way. By providing an environment that is geared

It is very helpful for teachers to understand the stages of child
development as they encourage the children to become more independent and grow in maturity.
Some strategies to respond to inappropriate or challenging behaviors that promote self
discipline would be to redirect the child’s attention to another activity, be consistent, be fair, and
give your full attention immediately when the situation might bring harm to themselves or to
another child. The teacher could remove the child from the group which gives the child a break
from the situation. The teacher should remain calm and don’t take the child’s outburst or anger
personally. In certain situations, the teacher can allow natural consequences for the child to
have to go through as teaching moments for them. It is important for the teacher to provide
positive attention to each and every child in the classroom by using the child‘s first name, eye
contact, getting on the child‘s level, listen to the child‘s requests, and have a caring attitude in
their responses back to the child.
