I am writing you this letter today urging you to incorporate a perceptual motor and movement program with in your local school system. After reading this letter I hope that you will have a better understanding of the importance of a perceptual and motor development in a young child’s life. I have been given the opportunity to further my education in perceptual motor development in young kids. Throughout this class I learned that kids use perceptual motor skills everyday through a variety of situations such as, physical fitness, spactial awareness, social and cultural awareness. Perceptual motor skills are important to young children because it helps them either learn or broaden their emotional and social development. Through child development it has impacted my understanding of perceptual motor skills by giving me a better understanding of the importance of the development in young children also to be aware of the skill level for different children. One important development that a child needs to broaden is their body awareness. Having body awareness the child will be able to improve in more physical activities such as, jumping. As they learn how to hop in place they can set goals for themselves to learn how to horizontal jump which will help them improve on their stability. Not only will this help improve their stability skills, but it will also help with directional awareness, because they will be able to learn which way is left and which way is right. In addition to developmental skills the child must improve their auditory and sound development. As the child learns more listening skills they will be to concentrate more. This could also help with the child’s temporal awareness, teaching them how to have self-expression. As the child works on self-expressions this will not only help the child, but will help the teacher to understand the child’s feelings and to also help the teacher know how to approach a child who may be
