Mrs. Sweaney: Student Interaction In The Classroom
To describe the interactions among the students and the teacher, I will start by describing a situation that occurred prior to Mrs. Sweaney’s class coming in to start the day. A yard-duty aide brought in a little boy who had been in Mrs. Sweaney’s class earlier in the year, but had been removed for unknown reasons. This little boy was so excited to see Mrs. Sweaney, as was she to see him. She wanted to know how he was doing and if he was enjoying school and his new teacher. She gave the little boy a big hug and listened to him as he spoke to her. Mrs. Sweaney noticed that the little boy’s arms were dirty, so she took him over to the sink and helped him wash off his arms and his hands so that he felt and looked cleaner. Seeing her interact with a student this way showed me how kind, patient, and caring she was towards children. When her students arrived to class, she was very energetic, happy to see them, and look forward to their day’s work. Mrs. Sweaney has a different attitude with her students in the sense that she is friendly, sweet, warm and welcoming, and always happy to see them, but she is also firm with them and wants them to learn about the choices they make and the consequences they have. Very often, during my time spent …show more content…
Sweaney’s classroom but she did inform me that she does have an aide who comes in daily and spends a lot of time working with her RSP students, as well as the student who has Autism and the student suffering from the behavioral issues.
Mrs. Sweaney had all her classroom rules posted and clearly visible to all her students. She would go over the rules, if necessary to remind the students to control their behavior and make smart choices. I didn’t observe an exact behavior management program, Mrs. Sweeney had little cues and techniques she used when she needed the students to pay better attention or if they were getting out of hand during their group collaboration and

Charlotte Johnston been sitting at a black top table surrounded by a group of chatty students her own age. And hadn't been paying much attention to what the teacher was saying, because everything zoned out, besides appearances and movements. Mr. Hube was wearing a bright purple sweater with tan khakis, and was extra fidgety. Something got him all hot and bothered, and it was obvious. His pale blue eyes glanced the room, and the pauses, he worried his lower lip, driving Charlotte crazy, that his outfit choice was bold for a teacher and that he appeared nervous to speak in front of his own class.…

It shows how the teachers interact with students, and how students react with the teachers. In that meager setting at Oakcity High School with Mr. Bartlett, he doesn’t cater to students needs. He does things in a strict basic formatted setting because “...on any job they get outside of school, there’s going to be a certain formats they must follow to be successful on the job. McDonald’s, there’s a certain way of frying French fries. There’s a certain was of customer service. They have to learn that format”.(pg. 661) He feels as though his students are unable to comprehend those in depth discussions. He teaches basic ideals and principals, then tests students on them. He also feels that all of his students are “somewhat on the same level”(pg. 661). His basic teaching format of “read a section, complete the section handout, take section quiz, repeat daily for five days, take chapter test Friday”(pg. 662) is completely unacceptable and demoralizes students. One student, Monique says “I want to go to college, but... if this is boring here I’m going to be bored in college”. This apathy towards students highly affects them…

I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. The students interacted pleasantly with one another and were were all very welcoming. They came into class, sat down, and got right to work.…

Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. There was no character development program or a posted set of rules displayed in her classroom. In her classroom she did the majority of the talking while the students listened and answered her questions. In the high school classroom, there was quite a bit of talking and disruption among the students in the beginning. There were many students who were up and walking around while he was discussing the homework. There was no character development in the classroom. Mr. G didn’t seem tell really be listening to his students, one student had to repeat his question three times. Each teacher provided a way to show respect and understanding to their students, and then the other showed a class room that didn’t have much respect for each…

I have conducted my field of experience at Westside Elementary School, second and third grade classroom. The third grade class consists of 20 students. The teacher does not have any aide even though she needs some assistance, because two of her students are falling behind. The sad part about this is that the students have not being diagnosed yet, but they are having a lot of difficulties. The teacher mentioned that by fourth or fifth grade those two students will need to be placed in a special education classroom. The students both have a concentration problem and it causes them to struggle with reading, writing, math, listening, and speaking. The teacher asked me to focus on and help these two students, while observing the rest of the class. On my second day, I went to Mrs. Bellamy’s Classroom; a second grade teacher. In this paper I am detonating the two different teaching styles that I observed, and the way the student are responding.…

I observed Mrs. Collier’s first grade class at J.B. Hunt elementary on Thursday September 13, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated nicely. She had bright posters hanging on the wall as well as many colorful boxes, curtains, and chairs around the room. The desks were set up in one giant “U” with Mrs. Collier sitting in the middle. It was a great set up for the kids because they could easily see her and she could easily see them. The dynamics in the classroom seemed great because she connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. The students behavior seemed very respectful towards her and they listened when she asked them to do something. Mrs. Collier’s equity between her and her students was…

When she was in the class, she did one on one work with the children and was given the opportunity to play games and do pieces of art with different students. On various days, she was able to take one of the children to hall or the sensory room. This gave her the opportunity to work with them individually. From working with the children within and outside the class, she learned a range of things about them from what they like to do and what their triggers are. On occasion, the author saw the children trashing the rooms and throwing various objects.…

One main part in the book is that when a teacher calls a parent that the parents always answers what did my child do this time, parents always think that if a teacher calls them it’s bad news but teachers need to make good phone calls to, to reward the student. The 2nd main point is when the student called the teacher stupid that shouldn’t be allowed no student should disrespect a teacher like that and when the teacher calls the parent to tell what the student called them and the parent said well were you doing something stupid. Parents always go on the students side and yell at teachers for what their kid is doing wrong. The 3rd main point is that your student becomes your child. All teachers students are basically like the teachers kid they see them every day they learn about them and get to know what they like and don’t like.…

At this stage in life, a few months does not make as big of developmental change in children than it did with the infants. Furthermore, at this stage in life, I can see how the students desire to gain acceptance from other students and adults such as the teacher and myself. It was interesting to watch when one child would say something, several to all the students would parrot what that child had said. In this way, I feel that the students felt kinship with each other. In the same way, I heard students repeatedly emphasize to Ms. Coco how they were friends with one or all of the students in the class.…

At the beginning of a new school year with high school sophomores, Mr. Finn is working at his desk wondering what the first period is going to be like. While waiting for the bell to ring, most students stand in clusters talking quietly but a few the knock- upstairs are rather loud and boisterous around the room causing a commotion with every group they pass.
