Before Muhammad Ali was a world renowned boxer, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay. Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Clay Jr. to Odessa and Cassius Clay Sr. Cassius Clay Jr. was born on July 17, 1942. Clay had one brother, Rahman Clay, born July 18, 1943. One year after Clay. Clay was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He grew up in a middle class black neighborhood. Cassius Clay grew up with his father, mother and brother. He was the son of a painter and a part time cook and housekeeper for wealthy white people, before he was the great boxer we know today.

1964 Cassius Clay became Muhammad Ali. In 1967 Muhammad refused to serve in the military. Was arrested for committing a felony. Ali was stripped of his championship and banned from boxing for three and a half years. He was fined $10,000 and was sentenced to five years in prison. Lucky for him the Supreme Court overturned the conviction in July 1971, so he didn't serve any time at all. Muhammad Ali was a wonderful boxer as well as a great activist.
