Have you noticed that everywhere you go, people are multi-tasking? It’s become a normal part of life in the 21st century. Most people assume that multitasking is necessary in our personal and work lives. But what is multitasking doing to us? (HOOK) According to the article “How to Do One Thing at a Time” by Women’s Health Magazine (Title and author) multi-tasking has a negative effect on our minds as well as our work (Main Idea). The article states, “Through solutions such as yoga and acupuncture, experts believe we can break our multi-tasking habit and sharpen our focus” (Quote). This quote basically shows that calming practices, like yoga and acupuncture, can address the harmful effects of multitasking on our focus (Paraphrase). I feel that this is true because these types of practices allow our mind to slow down and relax (Opinion). Our brains can recuperate during these activities from all the multitasking that is usually avoidable in our daily lives (Opinion). I can imagine that these activities take very little mental resources, so our brains are recovering and conserving these resources (Opinion).
