With the increase in hostilities between world powers and a rise in nationalism, borderline fascism, the blending of our societies have come to an intricate crossroads. Multiculturalism has literally come to a stopping point and an inverted rise in concern of the definition of collective groups has spurred the clashes within our societies. Thus, we must observe what is the relativity within cultures, and how does it shape our day to day interactions. Bringing to the forefront Cultural Relativism, its definition, the benefits and burdens of it within a multicultural society, and our global societies.

It would be as the reasoning and understanding why in life, as a Jamaican, born and raised, we were taught to respect elders, especially our mothers. For boys to be taught to respect women, always the protector and provider. This, in and of itself, is not unusual and with similar backgrounds, is understandable between multiple cultures. The ugly side is the fervent comprehension why these moral standpoints do not occur to everyone within said society. Therefore, we can see from the degradation of women by an individual is not necessarily based in the overall culture, but is the subjective experiences in which the individual undertakes in life. In this, we find that all of humanity has these basic desires, but what separates us is the trampling on the others right to do the same. So we must work with each other out of mutual respect as individual humans, collectively pursuing happiness without trampling on each other’s liberties or destroying lives in exchange for happiness.
