    1) Yes I believe music is still used as a form of protest. There are still many songs where the sole purpose of lyrical is to protest some social issue. For example the band Nickelback sings many songs about coming together to help everyone. Like in their song “When We Stand Together”, a lyric that pops out is “when we could feed a starving world with what we throw away. But all we serve are empty words that always taste the same.” While many of us know that there less fortunate people out…

They are infamous in using drums to beat for entertainment at gatherings. Denying that music is not a form of popular culture in my opinion is asinine. Over the broad plans of the scorching hot plantations which the field workers in the 1600’s worked; under these extreme inhumane living conditions the slaves were subjected to, they would hum tunes that would get them through their times of atrocity and calamity.…

Between the two, they have different backgrounds, but set aside their differences; they become good friends and exchange gifts with each other. When the song takes a turn for the worst, the businessman is killed by a man with a switchblade knife for only $43. The song also describes the skills he has to survive and overcome anything; the lyrics say, “I can plow a field all day long, I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn, we make our own whiskey, and our own smoke too, ain’t too many things these ole boys can’t do, we grow good ole tomatoes and homemade wine.” The assets to survive mentioned by the writer Mr. Williams Jr; are basic things you need to survive living in the country. Hank Williams Jr tone and attitude in the song were a feeling of pride being a country boy. Also his specific diction to tell the story of his friend he had come close to but is killed describes his feelings about the guy who killed him. His tone in the song gives a serious vibe through the entire song. Hank encourages that having outdoor skills will be helpful for survival. After Mr. Williams many great accomplishments from the song, Kid rock came out with his cover of Hank Williams Jr.'s "A Country Boy Can Survive". Kid rock was described as being "heavy metal-leaning" but in this case he took the country song and made it a more rock upbeat country song. The society of people who enjoyed rock in the late 1900’s enjoyed kid rocks new version. As both songs got huge hits creating great criteria- originality, engage listener/emotional impact, and meaning from the songs. Comparing the two will make you wonder whose version is better now.…
