Jabar, Jericson Mr. Ortega We watched a movie last week titled “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” which shows that a Greek woman (Toula Portokalos) who’s in her 30’s still haven’t married yet and all her dad wants is for her to marry a Greek Boy but the woman doesn’t have one yet. Then she took computer classes and work at her aunt’s agency, finally saw an American boy who she saw years before also single. Then they met and talked finally both of them have fallen in love. But the problem of them is that she can’t marry a non-Greek man which is the American boy (Ian Miller). This is unwanted by the father of the woman because he wants to preserve the Greek blood, culture, heritage and culture, but in the end the father finally accepts the American guy in the family and he has to adapt the culture of the woman. The leanings in the movie are marriage plays a vital role in society. Getting married is the dad’s goal for his daughter to have babies. Everyone should have rights because her dad doesn’t want her to take college but finally her dad accepts and let her finish the education and gets high grades and work in her auntie’s agency. Learn to accept is also a lesson because life will not go everything as plan, for example her dad must accept of Toula loving Ian. But Ian isn’t Greek but in the end her dad accepts it. Ian must accept and adapt the culture of Toula. Ian changed his religion and got baptise and learn to accept their culture and understand some of Greek heritage, also Ian’s parents accepts Toula as Ian’s wife. Religion is really important in the movie for marriage is a religious thing. Getting married inside the church is the right things to do. Religion is what moves us and gives us faith, without religion there will be no marriage. Finally love is very important for love gives motivation, inspiration and life. Love makes the world go around. Without love there’s no hope but fait gives
