my career
My career is to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), the job is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports for individuals and companies. Public accountants work as external consultants and advisors for corporations, small businesses, non-profits, government entities, and individuals. Public accountants also ensure that firms run efficiently and profitably by planning, implementing and overseeing financial policies and procedures. This career field is rapidly growing each year.
The level of education needed is getting a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, you can probably go higher by also obtaining a Master’s degree. Salary depends on the CPA’s educational background, years of experience, and the company he/she is working at. CPAs generally earn about $50,770 per year. Those with one to three years of experience may be paid lower. And those working for large firms are paid higher. Partners in public accounting firms can earn around $175,000 annually. CPAs are given benefits which includes paid vacations, health and life insurance, and pension plans.
Honesty and integrity are one the main personality traits needed for this career. Professional accountants have the responsibility of overseeing and managing financial records. They may also have access to a corporation's petty cash, investments and bank accounts. Therefore, an accountant must be trustworthy and honest. Professional and leadership skills are also required. You have to be an active listener, good in judgments. A successful accountant must also have good mathematical abilities.
It might take about 5 to 6 years to get the education I need. I can acquire this education from any college that offers good accounting courses. At Towson University to specific, an estimated average for a 4 Year Degree Cost: $53,672.
To be successful in my career I have to be focus both physically and mentally, and try to block out all distractions so that I can have the time to truly focus on my tasks
