My Early Childhood: Music Analysis
From my early childhood, all the way until now and I am sure to the future and beyond I have been fascinated by music. I have loved to listening to, playing, singing, and writing music as well. I can vividly remember when I was very young in our family room we had a stereo and my family and I would dance and play along to music. I specifically remember The Beatles and The Eagles. I had a small plastic snare drum that I use to use until sadly I stepped on it. Both of my Uncles played music and were in a band themselves. My Uncle Ed was a drummer and my Uncle Ronnie was a guitarist and a singer. I remember going to concerts for their band a t a young age as well.

When I was in elementary school I could not wait for music class. The music teacher there was very unique in the way he would teach music, instead of music theory we focused more on playing as we learn. From Elementary school I knew music would be a part of my life.

In our Elementary music classroom there were many xylophones and vibraphones as well as African djembes and congas. In fifth grade we had a guitar course and I knew from then on that I wanted music to be a part of my life.
Later that year we had an ensemble of xylophones, vibraphones and drums. My music teacher taught us with the Orff Approach. Originating from the German composer Carl

I loved to sing as well and learned how to control my voice. Eighth grade came and I joined the show choir, I danced as well as sang but I soon learned that I wasn't the best dancer so I decided in ninth grade to stick to singing. In ninth grade I also joined the marching band playing the 4th bass drum (which is the largest one). I loved marching and playing, going to competitions and learning new pieces, going to football games, all of it was wonderful. I came to love the ringing in my ears from the loud sound of our band. While I was in marching band I was also in the percussion band (which was an

Upon graduating high school I attended Eastern University where I studied music education and church music. Later, I transferred to Temple University and there I studied Jazz performance with a minor in music education.…

As a kid, I had sung in a small student choir in my elementary school. I had not received a great deal of exposure to instrumental playing by this time, the more disciplined instrumental instruction began in junior high. However, one day while shopping around in Walmart of all places, I convince my parents to purchase a CD of classical music recordings, after which I absolutely fell in love with classical music. This began my determination for playing an instrument. In my junior high school years, I enjoyed playing with the Carver Cougar Band at school events and outside in the community, while taking on the role of being one of its principal band leaders, which allowed me to explore my creativity and leadership simultaneously. I really did not begin to comprehend the world I had descended into until I transitioned to high school.…

Since the day I remember I have always loved to sing. Everything that dealt with singing I enjoyed. In school I loved chorus and has been my favorite class I have taken. Learning new music and how to read and write it made me feel like it was possible to write my own song. In my middle school, there was a honors chorus class called the “Small Ensemble” The Small Ensemble was a small and privileged class, they got the opportunity to go participate in school plays, Christmas parades, Christmas caroling, and competitions such as, All-County and All-State. To be considered into this honors class, students had to audition for a seat in the class. When I heard there were going to be auditions I was completely excited and so determined to audition.…

I grew up into an Indian family where music was our cultures number one craze. When I was eight years old, my mom would take me to the Indian temple, that is where we would do our prayers. The type of music they played at the temple was very different, it consisted of flutes and a singer whom would sing with a group of people. It was very fascinating, but at my age I wasn't very much interested in it.…

At age eleven I taught myself how to play guitar (inspired and frustrated by my father's skill or lack thereof) and quickly became proficient. Music was the first thing that had come easily to me. I was not a skilled athlete, I was not a social child, but finally I could play the guitar. I loved the warm sound of a full E chord, and the lilting melody of minor fingerpicking songs. I also basked in the glory of being able to learn the songs of my heroes and reinvent them myself. Much as I loved playing the guitar, my life was altogether unchanged until the summer before seventh grade.…

I was very young, but I can still remember how my sister was shaking and could barely hold her flute. I was nervous for her as we both have always strived to make my father proud and were always scared we would fail. My father had always expressed how much he loved learning about music and being able to play many instruments. He had taught himself when he was young and had been playing for many years. I find it amazing that a music teacher can take a student that knows nothing about an instrument or music and have them playing in a matter of weeks or months. In saying that, I find it mind blowing that they can take group of students and organize a band or an orchestra in such little time and then put on a concert.…
