My facilitator

My interview was with my facilitator. Her name was Brigette Hall. She told us that for her being an independent adult is someone that is responsible and able to take care of themselves without much help. She shared her advice for picking a job. She said to do something you love it won’t feel like work. For education she said to do something that is fun to you as well as interesting. The biggest challenges of being independent are dealing with you past, family members that don’t accept you as adult and paying bills on time. She also said do not be afraid or a shame to ask for help when you need it the most. She said her family did not treat her as an independent adult even she was fully grown which means she had her own home, her own car, a career and was making good money. She said sometimes it’s hard for some family members to let go. As a teenager she said she wish she would have known what rent was. That would have helped her become and independent adult sooner. She stated that she was raised with the view of independent that was self sufficient, higher education, and paying cash for all purchases. The biggest reward for becoming independent is self fulfillment and being able to do what you want, when you want and with whom you want to do it with. She said she determined what she did for a career by looking at her entrance and what she did well. She also stated that she enjoys helping others succeed for a better future. The biggest surprised she discovered as being an adult was all the bills and money she had to spend. She said she feels like she became an independent adult when she got her first full time job with the state and moved away from her home town.
