My First Time Driving: Personal Narrative
My First Time Driving I have never been more agitated in my life. I have got to be the most horrendous driver ever. Before this, I had never driven a car in my life. Nobody ever told me what to do, and I never found it interesting to learn how. So I drove for the first time unprepared, inexperienced, and uninterested. It was summer 2016 in sunny Gulfport, Mississippi when I drove for the first time. We lived right on the water, so the roads were sharp and depended on the water. My dad has an unbelievably short temper, and I knew that my driving was going to push him off the edge. I knew that I wasn’t going to be fantastic at driving. I got in the car anyways seeming confident thinking that maybe I wouldn’t be as horrible as I thought.

The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. This was the exact thing the driving instructor in The Driver’s Seat‘ taught the author. The routine of how to maneuver and throw caution to the wind- taking risks- to get the author over…

The day I took off on my 4 wheeler, and left my Mom and Dad in the dust. It started out awesome and fun, then turned out to be very scary. It was July 4, 2013, my family and I loaded up our 4 wheelers for a fun day in the great outdoors. We all unloaded our 4 wheelers, then took off out into the desert. I wanted to see how fast I could go around the sharp corners on dirt roads. It was so much. I was having so much fun seeing how fast I could drive my 4 wheeler, around the sharp dirt road corners, I never looked back.…

Starting the car with a bright smile on my face. Feeling absolutely confident. I released the hand brake and immediately hit the brakes in attempt to stop the car. My heartbeat began to increase as I started to think what I should do next. As the car stood in the middle of the road I visualized my dad driving the car. Taking three deep breaths I quickly released the brake again and pressed on the clutch and shifted to first. As I cruised in the neighborhood feeling proud I saw a hand in the air, as it got closer I realized it was my dad demanding me to park the car. Though my dad hammered me verbally for stealing the car while he was asleep, I had a smile on my face because that day I had learned how to drive a manual car.…

My first car was a bit of a roller coaster, I had just learned to drive the year before and now it was time for me to have my own car. I would say the excitement I felt was overwhelming but even that might understate it just a little. The search began on a Sunday morning we went to several different dealerships, in search of the right mix of economy and style. Well, to be honest my mom was mostly interested in the economy part. The first dealership we went the car salesman seemed like the kind of over eager vacuum salesman you see on those old TV shows. The guy was just ridiculous, with his hair slicked back, and his slacks which were so tight he could start a fire. Every time he would show us a car I thought he was going to start a fire.…

Drivers have misunderstood “experience” for knowledge. They have been driving for an x number of time and seems to have been probably lucky enough to not been involved in anything serious or dangerous. Their limited skill level can cope with the ordinary. Therefore, their level of driving knowledge and skill will suffice until a crisis happens. In general, people have been surviving day to day with their mediocre skills only because an event that requires advanced skills and knowledge has yet to rear its ugly head. If they are not prepared for a crisis while driving, they simply don’t know how to react to one. It is the equivalent of thinking. There was something she could have done if only she had more…

It was a nice, sunny day. Windows down and the stereo up. Going down the highway at about 75 in the middle of the day! All was well until she looked into her rearview mirror; the blue lights were high on her trail. She pulled over, the officers came to her window, is there a problem sir? Ma’am you were speeding he says. Oh I didn’t realize I was the woman said. The officer asked her for her license and she replied, I would give it to you but I don’t have it. Why don’t you have it, he asked? Well, she says, I lost it 4 times for drunk driving. He then wanted to see her registration but she didn’t have that either. She says, ya see officer I stole this car and I killed and hacked up the owner. His body parts are in a plastic bag in the trunk…

It is illegal to drive on the wrong side of the road. Everyone that drives and anyone with common sense knows that. Martinez was due in court on September 29th for being charged with possession of ecstasy, as the article states. This wouldn’t be the first time he was placed before a judge. The article clearly gives a few of the charges on Martinez’s record such as battery, drug possession, and grand theft. This man had drugs in his possession and a record to go along with his name. That makes me wonder how exactly he got onto the expressway and if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Had he survived, I feel as though he would be charged with driving under the influence and, if his recklessness had resulted in any fatalities, vehicular manslaughter.…
