My Goals For Starting College

Although higher education has become more accessible to lower and middle-class citizens, many complex obstacles remain in place. Most students receive a culture shock when entering college for the first time; I’m still shocked. Whether it’s the college atmosphere, professor expectations, or workload, students can agree it’s different than they expected. First I had to realize why I was there: what was my goal? My overall goal is to earn my basic credits and eventually transfer my ACC credits to a four-year university in an attempt to save money. However, life often gets in the ways of one’s plans and can lead to unimaginable pathways. The average college student, myself included, looks to community colleges for a quality education at an affordable price. Money is the most obvious setback for students, while student loans or scholarships can help relieve some of the financial burden I find it imperative to utilize college credits I earned in high school. Despite the obstacles, I plan to work vigorously to ensure my success throughout my college career.
