He is considered “the world’s leading authority on contemporary Islam” by the BBC. | 2.) Anne Allison | 1956 | She wrote the book Nightwork on hostess clubs and Japanese corporate culture after having worked at a hostess club in Tokyo. She received her BA from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1986. | 3.) Anne MacKaye Chapman | 1922 – June 12, 2010 | A Franco-American ethnologist. She studied the Mesoamerican civilizations and especially the Tolupan (Jicaque) people of Honduras. She had visited Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego many times since 1965 to study the Fuegian peoples in depth, especially the Selk’nam and Yahgan. | 4.) Anne L.
