Specifically, the transformational leadership style closely aligns with my philosophy of care and is of interest to me. Philosophy of care to me, is excellent patient care, through values and integrity issues of, trust, respect, and ethical commitment in health care. The transformation leadership style, fits well with my philosophy of care, due to the style supporting characteristics I strongly believe in, such as being, trustworthy, respectful, encouraging, and team oriented. Working as a nurse, I am always respectful to my patient and the parents, through updating, teaching, encouraging, talking and listening to the parents of the preemie babies I care for, a trusting bond grows. The teamwork I have with my peers makes my unit have a strong force towards excellent patient care.

The appeal to me about transformational leadership, is how it already fits in well with how I currently practice. Also, in my research I learned transformational leadership is the most effective style in business ("Leadership Styles," n.d.) Taking ENES 317 has exposed me to lot of knowledge such as one leadership/Management skills, personality types, approaches to problems and decision making. In the past, I believed that leadership was a quality that could be learned and taught, but I also thought that leadership would best fit people with some personal trait such as charisma or personality of an extrovert people. With the knowledge gained from this leadership course, I came up with an individual Bill Gates who is successful in leading but an introvert, and he has successfully managed to influence others, who virtually revitalize our personal computers/phones and way of shopping. However, some of the things I knew about leadership before taking ENES317 was that a good leader should be open to new ideas, forgiving to his/her followers, and demonstrate humility. I still believe that without these qualities a leader can only become arrogant in their leadership that their behavior may isolate them from their followers. My focuses on this paper will be to analyze the self-assessments test taken in class and the leadership theories presented in class.…

Transformational leadership has the ability to generate a higher commitment to the company from its’ employees. I believe that Sam Walton, the Founder of Walmart had this ability. “Walmart as we know it today evolved from Sam Walton’s goals for great value and great customer service. “Mr. Sam,” as he was known, believed in leadership through service. This belief that true leadership depends on willing service was the principle on which Walmart was built, and drove the decisions the company has made for the past 50 years. So much of Walmart’s history is tied to the story of Sam Walton himself, and so much of our future will be rooted in Mr. Sam’s principles” (Walmart, 2012). You can see this principle the moment that you walk in to any Walmart store. There is a greeter there to meet you everytime. Sam Walton made sure that from the time that you walked in the door that you had great customer service experience. Not only will it make the customer feel welcomed, but it will also help repeat business. To obtain this type of customer service level, the leader behind the scenes needs to create “buy ‘in” from their employees. The employees need to believe in what they are doing and understand the…

A leader is a person or thing that holds a dominant or superior position within its field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control or influence over others. Leadership is the key element of the nursing profession. Every nurse performs leadership role while caring for their patients, such as providing a continuum of care, advocate for them, and educate them and the family. All these tasks need authoritative, directive, and compassionate personality. I believed that I practice Path-goal theory and Transformational leadership. The reason I choose Path-goal theory is that I believe in accomplishing goals by motivating the team and recognizing their work efforts. Furthermore, the followers need to have clear goals by coaching and directing them as well as be able to fall back on the leader to overcome the obstacles. I also believe that I fit into the transformational leadership…

The transformational leadership style has many similarities to the charismatic style. Transformational leaders provide a vision, seek high expectations, promote trust, and give personal attention to the employees. Transformational leaders focus on setting goals and articulating those goals to the employees, instilling commitment to the vision and creating mutual trust (Robbins & Judge, 2007). Starbucks believes that the key to company success is its employees, called partners.
