It was really a long way to my first destination. I walked and walked and walked. When I reached Willow Marsh, I rested a little beside a tree. Then again I traveled. A little before dawn, when my legs were starting to ache, I arrived at Rabbit Flats.…
It had felt like an eternity but the day had finally given way to night. The departure of the daylight offered my sunbaked skin refuge from the dry heat that constantly pressed down on me. My weary muscles lent me just enough energy to lift my heavy head and scan the horizon to ensure that the Tracker was long gone. Occasionally, I glanced up and gazed upon the colorful specks of light that were interspersed within the inky black sky. It was heart-wrenching to know that I was experiencing the same starry sky that my mother would be seeing from her comfortable place at home, and I was miles away. My threadbare, dusty jacket was the only thing shielding me from the brutal chill of the winds that swept across the eerily silent desert. It took every last ounce of strength I had to drag one aching foot in front of the other but I reminded myself that every grueling, fatiguing step took me closer to returning to the one place I felt that I belonged, Jigalong. Ignoring the relentless hunger pains in my stomach, I realized that I would have collapsed many long, merciless miles ago if it were not for the beautiful image of my mother’s joyful face once she had seen that I had come home.…
In J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye, the main character's favorite concept is phoniness. He spend a lot of his time talking about people and how they are fake. What Holden does not realize that he is just as phony as the people he talks about. J.D. Salinger uses the character of Holden to express The Catcher in the Rye's theme of phoniness.…
After several days and nights the desert began to become hotter and we lost track of time. As we were walking along under the stars in dark of the night I tripped over a rock and fell towards the ground with a splash. The cool liquid surrounded my dry skin as a feeling of joy spread throughout my body. “Water!” I shouted back to the others. Smiles spread across the group as they jumped into the pool of water. Everyone drank and ate berries from the surrounding bushes until we could eat no more. As we sat around a fire that James had created the conversation of how much more walking we could take came up.…
I then began to climb up the mountain in hope of surmounting the top. The sound of the boots treading on the many pine cones and sticks on the ground echoed throughout the mountain. When I reached the top I looked back down and saw all the marvels of wildlife I thought to be my loyal subjects staring up at me. The wind whispered around me and almost lifted me into the clouds that were not too distant from where I was standing. I could be anyone I wanted and I didn’t have any worries about what I would face when I went back down. There was no one on top of the mountain who would tell me about the research paper I had to do or about the girl who says she hates my guts. When I’m at this special place I am in a state of reverie that is a form of escape from the many worries that I have left back in reality. But like all good things in life they have to come to an end and I eventually had to venture back down the mountain. As I trekked down the mountain all these fears, that had plagued me once before, started to trickle back into my mind, and I lost that state of relaxation that the top of the mountain brought to me. As we left the cabin in the station wagon, I looked back and saw all the leaves falling down for my departure and the wind made it as if the tree branches were waving good bye to me as the dust behind the car clouded up my vision.…
As I watched the pale moon lie on its back whilst the midnight sky started to engulf the village in a blanket of darkness, a sense of melancholy enveloped me. Whilst the faint sound of the ancient street lamp was to be heard, I began to wonder what might have been. What I had done was transgressing the boundaries of society. I had gambled everything I had and lost them all. I had no husband, no family, and no friends. What I had done was truly unforgiveable. The only place that I could take refuge was in Chenzhuang Village, a small village made for industrialisation. The village was my saviour, a blessing from God; a place where I could seal my true identity from those who knew me.…
The story began on a bright Friday morning. I packed my bags and was ready to take on the adventure of camping in the jungle. All six of us – Ainul, Dayang, Farah, Suhaila, Yus and I finally agreed to meet up at the school’s bus stop before embarking on our journey into the virgin forest.…
We had an early night. Mosquitoes and eerie sounds made by the nocturnal creatures of the jungle kept us awake for most of the night. I had almost made up my mind to give up. At first break of daylight, we were up. We ate the food we had brought and set off for Kampung Melur. Our walk slowed down to a snail’s pace as we had to make our way cross muddy paddy fields. As it began to get dark, we frantically searched for a site to set up camp. Suddenly, we saw the flicker of kerosene lamps in the distance.…

Sempu Island is amazing island, located about 70 kilometers south of the center of 'Malang' city, East Java. Technically, this island is a nature reservation under the jurisdiction of the natural resources conservation station (BKSDA IV) in Malang. Supply water of this lagoon is derived from the big holes reef in center, which periodically provides a great view of water splash sound of waves hitting the reef and some water was flowing into there.…

Penelope and Selena were very close friends, they were friends ever since the 1st grade. While on their morning run, Penelope and Buddy saw Selena taking out the trash. “Oh! Road tripping is supposed to be fun and exciting. It gives me an opportunity to jump in the car and explore something new. In the summertime 2008 when I got my 99’ Dodge Intrepid back from the previous accident, I begun my road trip to Yellowstone National Park in early morning. As I drove down the road, I soon realized that I had never been anywhere alone before. This was a new feeling for me, one of strength and fear rolled into one. My trip was nerve wrecking because I faced a certain problems with my car that I have never experienced before, but it taught me a lot about how to maintain my car.…
