My Sister Ramez Analysis
My brother, Ramez, is the definition of the word optimist. An optimist is a person who holds the belief that good ultimately outweighs evil in the world. Firstly, Ramez attempts to look at every situation on the brighter rather than the darker side. If he were to be robbed, he would say something along the lines of “at least I was not killed”. If one were to be completely failing at a hobby, assignment, career choice or having a mid-life crisis, Ramez would find a way to make it appear as if it is not the worst thing to happen and that a positive artifact has somehow come out of the negative situation. Now, this is a moderately beneficial characteristic to have in a person, for optimists will always be able to bring ones and their selves’ spirits
up in their time of sorrow and self-pity. Secondly, Ramez is a forgiving person; his optimistic self is the cause. No matter what a person has done to him, he will always find a way to forgive them. He tends to believe that the past is in the past and since it cannot be changed, it is easier to forgive than to hold a grudge. This may be acquired for being “naïve” per say; however, my brother believes that if he makes peace with the matter and let it go, it will not sour the present and the future for him. Optimistic people do not typically hold resentments against anyone, they prefer to forgive and forget. And lastly, Ramez gravitates towards befriending upbeat cheerful people. Optimistic people lean towards surrounding themselves with other optimists, they believe that if they were to surround themselves with pessimists, it would drain their energy, joy, and overall bring them down. For instance, if they were to be on an outing with a pessimist, it can be difficult for them; however, if the outing were to be with an optimist, their uplifting and content energy would flow easily between each other and they would feel further at ease. In conclusion, an optimist is a person who embraces the belief that good eventually overshadows evil in the world. At moments, having an optimist constantly around may become quite irritating; however, it is always refreshing and uplifting to have them nearby, for they cannot be replaced.
