True leaders are not those who strive for fancy titles through advertisment and promotion. To me, the best leader is someone who has gone through many hardships, someone who knows exactly how tough life can get, but is able to hold themselves up high and look forward to the future. Leaders guide themselves and anyone who wants to be along their side over any obstacle, no matter the challenge.
As President of Optimist Club, one of my many responsibilities is planning and conducting meetings, but the pleasure of the club is found volunteering with people who want to better their community. The most humbling feature of my fellow optimists is that most of us have seen how negative life can be, and we recognize that no matter how you may feel, helping others has a symbotic relationship with your mindset. No one judges me for having lived with my grandmother for 9 years. No one treats me differently because my parents went through a war of a divorce. No one cares that I often talk too fast during meetings, making my voice uncomprehendable. Instead, my fellow members look up to me for being a happy, compassionate person, who knows how to jump over one hurdle at a time and is always wanting to help. …show more content…
