The Completion of this thesis proposal would not have been possible without the support and guidance of many people, to only some of whom it is possible to give particular mention. It is with immense gratitude and respect that we acknowledge the constant support of _____________. Her advice and unsurpassed knowledge has been an enormous help in our own writing journey. She has been available to us and a listening ear for us for many weeks without her encouragement and belief in us, finishing this work would never have been possible. I have considered it an honor and a gift to be able to work with her on this project. We are lucky to consider her my mentor and will always know that she is our teacher. We would like also to express our deepest appreciation to our loving parents. Their support in so many ways made this writing possible. Their financial support and availability of time to help us in any way. Our sincere thanks goes out to our professor, Dr. Carmelita Lipio, who’s knowledge and patience was essential

The story of the Kite Runner is fictional, but it is rooted in real political and historical events ranging from the last days of the Afghan monarchy in the 1970s to the post-Taliban near present-day. Hosseini also pulls from his own memories and experiences growing up in the Wazir Akbar Khan section of Kabul and his adaptation to life in California. Khaled Hosseini’s aim was to not only call attention to the devastation in Afghanistan; he set out to remind the world that before he last few decades under the world’s scrutinizing eye highlighting the negativity of the country, Afghanistan was a generally peaceful nation.…

This study is focused about “Utilization of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) as a Flavoring agent in Gelato”. The researchers find it interesting that to think of a way to make an ordinary flavored gelato be more helpful to people’s eating lifestyle. According to Nasm.org, Turmeric is a spice native to South and Southeast Asia. It has been used for both medicinal and culinary purposes. Foods such as curries, and even American mustard, are typically made with this yellow spice. Interestingly, there is one active ingredient in turmeric that has been shown to possess many potential health benefits that may help increase the quality of life for those with chronic diseases. The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, which makes up to 5 percent of the spice. Curcumin is a polyphenol with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Polyphenols have the ability to stabilize free radicals, which can damage the body’s cells. Diets rich in polyphenols can help support brain health and delay cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. One study conducted with a group of individuals from 60 to 90 years of age demonstrated that those who regularly consumed curry performed higher on cognitive tests as opposed to those who never or rarely ate curry. In India, where turmeric is regularly used in foods, the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease is one-fourth that of the United States among those in the 70 to 79 year age range. Curcumin also seems to have anti-rheumatic and anti-arthritic effects, possibly through down-regulation of inflammatory cytokines. In other animal studies, curcumin showed a chemo preventive effect in areas such as the colon, stomach, and esophagus. There was also a protective effect against radiation-induced tumors. Curcumin can inhibit tumor cells such as T-cell leukemia, colon carcinoma, and breast carcinoma cells from spreading.…
