My Worst Leader
There are many factors that can make someone a poor leader. The worst leader I ever had was my boss at the insurance company I worked for last year. My boss played favorites, did not do her work, micromanaged, lacked human skills, and recorded everything wrong that someone had ever done. All of these factors are what made her the worst leader I have ever had in my life. The first reason my boss was the worst leader I ever had was because she played favorites. First, my boss was only friendly towards the people that she liked in our department. She would say good morning to them, she would take an interest in their personal life, and she would ask about their weekend plans. She never asked anyone else those types of things, and we felt distanced …show more content…
She would had out the easiest work to the people she actually liked. The rest of us struggled to get our work done by the end of the day while her favorite people always finished beforehand. Finally, she would gossip with her favorites about other people. Sometimes we would overhear them which made for a hostile work environment. Playing favorites was one factor that made her a poor leader. The second reason my boss was the worst leader I ever had was that she would give all of her work to the rest of us but take credit for it. First, everyone in the department had job duties specific to each person including my boss. She would start out the day with work on her desk, but she always walked around and distributed her work to the rest of the department. Next, people from other departments would bring her reports and documents that she needed to sign, review, or check. She would give those materials to us which only added to our chaotic day. She on the other hand, would just stare at her computer all day. Finally, she would take credit for doing the work, and the CFO praised her for her ability to get so much work done. Taking credit for work she did not do made by boss a poor …show more content…
This was very annoying because our jobs had to be done in a certain order. If we had not gotten that far yet, it would still have to wait to be done. Finally, if she did not like the way you did something she would go and redo it. She would tell you that she had to redo it, but she would not explain what was wrong with it. Being a micromanager was another factor that made by boss a poor leader. The fourth reason my boss was the worst leader I ever had was that she lacked human skills. First, my coworker’s daughter was in the hospital to give birth, and my coworker wanted to be there to support her daughter. She was not allowed to take off work that day because someone else was on vacation. My coworker missed the birth of her grandchild because our boss lacked the compassion to understand her situation. Next, talking to my boss was difficult. We would try to be friendly with my boss by starting conversations or by doing something nice for her. She was never interested in the conversation or our kind gestures. Finally, she would make rude comments about people behind their back. She said whatever popped into her head without giving it a second thought. She never picked up on the fact that it upset people and most of us really resented her for it. The lack of human skills made my boss a poor

A good leader must demonstrate the qualities that they want to see in their employees. For example at organizations like Starbucks and McDonalds the order takers are always friendly and greet you with a smile. This is a part of their customer focus, so a leader must be able to demonstrate these same qualities. If you saw your leader being rude or mean to customers yet they are always telling you to be nice this would be seen as a contradiction. Then you as the employee could lose respect for the leader because they are not effectively demonstrating what they want to be done. An effective leader must be able to lead by…

One tell-tale sign presented is higher than average turnover within departments as compared with the organization as a whole. Another sign which can help in spotting bad bosses is negative feedback from employees. (This tactic of course requires some system of eliciting feedback from disgruntled employees). Another identifier listed is inflexible and authoritarian behavior on the part of managers. Generally speaking, these traits often lead to low job satisfaction, and ultimately to employee…

I would add qualities of a good leader such as flexibility. A good manager should be flexible so as to accommodate the many changes he might come across in course of management. These may include a change in the work environment. I do still agree with the poor qualities originally identified. There are managers who portray very poor management qualities as identified originally. Some of the poor qualities of a leader identified include failure to communicate, dictatorship, disrespect as well as discrimination amongst employees. A poor manager will display qualities of poor management by showing discriminating among his employees. This means that the manager favours some of the employees. The discrimination brings about division in the organization hence no good team work (Jillyan,…

    Who Is Atalanta A Hero

Theseus’s slaying of the mighty Minotaur mutes the accounts of his treatment of Ariadne that may differ from Hamilton’s. Would a female still be acknowledged as heroic if she abandoned a man who helped her? For example in Atalanta’s Greek myth, Atalanta avoids romance at all cost and this seems to show that she breaks free from the stereotype that woman must find love to become a hero. Atalanta imposes a condition on men wanting to marry her, “As a way of disposing of them [men] easily and agreeably she declared that she would marry whoever could beat her in a footrace, knowing well that there was no such man alive. She had a delightful time.…

One of the most important items on their agendas is that they must complete tasks. They feel that it is important for their success. Many of the emotions and feelings that others experience, have no impact on their lives. I have worked with this particular leader for only eleven months now. She was my principal who not only displayed zero tolerance for disciplinary issues with students, but, with the teachers as well. I felt nervous when I worked with her. It was awful! In many of the staff meetings, she simply dictated orders to the staff. It was not pleasant to be a part of this team during this time. If she were asked to define her style of leadership, I think she would say it was simply participative. She could not see that it was a difficult situation to say the…

When the ringleader’s friend needed a job she began harassing me. She wanted me to resign my position, there were 4 of them. She embarrassed me by discussing her personal relationships then taunting me to divulge my relationships. She was nice one day and she was mean to me the next. She complained to my boss that I was taking too many bathroom breaks, I was talking too loud to the customers on the phone, etc. – I was given a warning from my boss. When I tried to defend myself my boss told me I needed to conform, get along and be part of the team. Anything I said or did was blown out of proportion. I was just trying to do my job.
