She would had out the easiest work to the people she actually liked. The rest of us struggled to get our work done by the end of the day while her favorite people always finished beforehand. Finally, she would gossip with her favorites about other people. Sometimes we would overhear them which made for a hostile work environment. Playing favorites was one factor that made her a poor leader. The second reason my boss was the worst leader I ever had was that she would give all of her work to the rest of us but take credit for it. First, everyone in the department had job duties specific to each person including my boss. First, my coworker’s daughter was in the hospital to give birth, and my coworker wanted to be there to support her daughter. She was not allowed to take off work that day because someone else was on vacation. My coworker missed the birth of her grandchild because our boss lacked the compassion to understand her situation. Next, talking to my boss was difficult. We would try to be friendly with my boss by starting conversations or by doing something nice for her. She was never interested in the conversation or our kind gestures. Finally, she would make rude comments about people behind their back. She said whatever popped into her head without giving it a second thought. She never picked up on the fact that it upset people and most of us really resented her for it.
