My Writing Analysis
My writing has many flaws I have known that since I started writing. But out of all the problems that I have always had, the one that bothers me the most is that I know I am not producing the best work I can possibly get out. I have always been confident in my thoughts and ideas, but every time I starting writing them down they never seem to be able to go the way I want them to go. My applications for college where an example of this. For all three of the essays that I wrote I know I had great I ideas to address their respective prompts. I had gone through all these experiences and I was ready to write about them. As I started writing them and finishing them I started to realize that at that point they were definitely not ready to turn in. So I took them to my literature teacher and asked her to review them and what I could do to address the problems that I saw. The next day she brought them back and told me that they simply were not cohesive enough. I went back home to review them and I believed that they were cohesive enough and that I stuck to the main …show more content…

I never had difficulty thinking about what to write or how I was going to address the prompt, I also never worried about not having enough written down considering I would produce about three to four pages in a relatively short amount of time. But no matter how much practice I got in writing them I would never feel confident before turning them in. And this stuck with me throughout the year and especially during the AP exam. This has been my biggest problem in writing since I started. I have approached it in many different ways but no matter what I was never able to produce any essay that had my complete confidence in. This has been my writing hump that I need to achieve in order to take my writing to where it needs to

In elementary and middle school, we were all taught to write first drafts before writing our final copies. Teachers would tell us it is important to take the time to write and organize our thoughts and ideas before writing a final copy. I would never complete this step. I was usually one of the students that would spend my time writing to just get the writing done. Then, I would look over it quickly and correct only few parts. My “first draft” would usually end up being my final draft. I have never enjoyed writing and have never really liked my own writing. My writing was never the one talked about by teachers or ever given a good grade. I would never bother fixing my first draft because I never thought I could make it into a good quality paper. Lamott describes a brilliant writer sitting down and writing a polished piece of work in one sitting and then goes on to explain how that never happens. I found that really comforting because that is how I imagined many people writing. Now I know that is usually not how it happens. This made me realize that good writing just takes time. Some people might be better writers than others, but the way Lamott describes writing makes it seem that anyone can become good writer. I just need to take the time to write out my ideas to form an awful first draft that can later be revised into a “terrific” final…

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…

learned that to write an effective Essay you should first drift the topic of your essay for example make a diagram of the topic or issues you are going to talk about in your Essay. The topic should be in the middle and start to think about the subjects that are related to your topic, or subjects that will help you get your point across to your readers more affectively. I’ve also learned that by visualizing your story from the beginning to the end can help you to see the picture of what you want to talk about, what can be also helpful is while you visualizing your story you should write down as much information as possible in case you…

Lamott states “almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts”(13) I can relate to this because my final draft comes from a “shitty” rough draft that doesn’t contain any organization, therefore after being revise and edited it ends up being a well-organized and detailed essay. Another example I can relate to Lamott is when she comments “I’d start…

My writing process all depends on what I am writing. Some writings I can sit down and write the whole things and be done with it, while others can take me multiple days or even weeks. I normally sit down and work on it until I finish, get tired of it, or a hit a roadblock. I try to stop when I feel like I am writing the same thing over and over or if I feel like I just need a break. Most of the time, if I feel like I am writing and it is really bad, it is because it is and I need to take a break and come back to it later. Working on it in pieces normally works well for me, to break it up and take it a little bit at a time. I normally struggle when I do not like what I am writing about or when I run out of information to put in my writing. I…

I now have a more efficient system of planning and write multiple drafts before I feel at ease with submitting an assignment. Not only that, I now feel confident when writing papers and am able to complete assignments with little or no writers block. Although, writing in college has not been the easiest. It took me a while to transition to this level of writing and took a lot of hard work to get to where I am at now. Sometimes, I find myself over reviewing an assignment before I actually turn it in. Not that this is bad, but at times it takes me longer to submit an assignment than it…

Last year, in my English class, I had to write a research essay on texting and driving. We were given three weeks to plan, research, and write the paper. I went home and began to look into the statistics on the number of people involved in car accidents as a result of texting and driving. I found quotes from people who had caused an accident, which resulted in death, because they were texting and driving. Once I had gathered all of my research, I started to write my paper; my thesis based on the facts and information gathered. When I finished my paper, a peer reviewed and made edits to make sure there were no mistakes and recommended ways to improve the paper. On the day the paper was due, I was more confident than ever in the work that I put into my essay to make it the best one I had ever written. The reason I was so confident was that I had the time to plan my essay and research facts, quotes and statistics to make my paper sound and look very well put…

Writing is definitely not my favorite task, but I don’t hate it either. I would say that I am indifferent towards writing. However, writing is a skill that needs to be honed and mastered, because it plays such a key role in almost any career. So when I started working in the lab I was a little apprehensive, because I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But through my work in the lab I have observed so many different levels of students and how that plays a role in their writing and style; I have even learned some facts about the way I write that I was not aware of. I have learned that I am not very confident in my own writing skills, and I need to work on my writer’s voice.…

I knew what I was talking about, and I could just spill the information onto the paper. However, if I am writing about pretty much anything else, I feel like everything I am writing is not good enough. I get stuck after every sentence, kind of like I am right now. It’s hard for me to have a lot of opinions and things to say when I don’t know much about the subject. It’s hard for me to write about my writing process when I don’t really even know what my writing process is.…

Throughout this course, I have learned many things about myself as a writer. The most interesting thing that I learned about myself is that I like writing straight to the point. If a question is present, I like to answer it with little details as possible. I like to include all the important information and continue on with the essay. In the future, I can learn to be more detailed with my work which will have a more effective communication with readers. As for difficulty, I have always had trouble with creating cohesive papers. I tend to write whatever is on my mind when writing my essays, and as I write, sometimes my thoughts can be unorganized. I have learned that after writing my essays, I will go back and switch around my work to organize my thoughts more efficiently. I enjoy writing straight to the…

    My Writing Style Analysis

The Nature of a person's writing style can sometimes show more about an individual then the words they actually write, the poetic twists in sentence flow or the professional structure of their grammar. Writing styles are as unique as fingerprints and to define them can be as arduous as mastering the skills required to properly form one. In the quest to define my own style I discovered a detail that I have determined encapsulates the style with which I write; I write with passion. When I say I am a passionate writer I don't mean that I love to write but more that my level of personal affection toward the subject I am writing on directly affects the emotional nature I write in. In other words, I write more expressively and artistically the…
