It revolves around the last twelve years of my life, where I lived on Colfax avenue. The work that I am writing, is a semi-autobiographical. I’ve been inspired by literature I have been reading throughout my life, as well as the creative writing classes I have took in the past. Certain authors have influenced my writing with their writing styles. I have studied how particular writers used narrative techniques, juxtaposition, imagery, and metaphors to engage their readers into reading their work. Thompson. He had the ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Thompson had a wild imagination and kept his readers guessing through his ability to tell a story. He had blurred the line between fiction and non-fiction through his eccentric behavior. I have learned one have the ability to make their writing interesting through their imagination like Thompson once did. The books that I had fallen in love with are, “ Hell’s Angels,” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” Hunter had made writing rebellious and dangerous like Jack Kerouac and Ken Kesey. He was a rebel and an outlaw like the both of them. Reading the works of Hunter S. Thompson—are like riding a rollercoaster with no drop-bar. His unique word choice had crafted wild imagery within his work. Hunter S.Thompson was a word-smith. He peculiarly picked the right words to print on to the page. He was very detailed into telling he own view and persona into his stories which were meant to be non-fiction. As a reader and at once young teenager, I never thought I could be engaged with politics, but his work had made the political arena very appealing to me.
