Mycenaean Civilization Vs Minoan Civilization Essay

Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations were very sophisticated and artistic in many ways. Both of this civilizations had very much in common as they both develop a style of writing, made art, build buildings, trade, had similar military, and had agriculture growth because of the weather. This explains a lot about these two societies meaning that even though their beliefs and most of their lifestyle was different, they lived good (most of the people). Their geography also shows that they were close to each other back then too. Being so close to each other most beliefs and arts were combined because they were both traders of the ocean. The royal classes of each spent a lot of their wealth in building architectures and many of them being palaces. Palaces made by the wealth of those who had back then serve as gathering
The art made by the Mycenaean civilization was pretty much the opposite though. The Mycenaean civilization were more warriors so many pieces of their art were more violent and shown more weapons than the Minoan civilization. The palaces of the Mycenaean civilization were very different from the Minoans too. The Mycenaean's palaces had high walls and other defenses that were ready to use in battle. The Mycenaeans during it's conquering of nearby cities went to conquer Minoans and they achieve it. This is was the time that both of the civilizations got a little more knowledge of each other, but because of the natural disasters and invasions (mainly the Mycenaean invasion), Minoan seize to exist around 1500 BCE. Later, Because of competition, Mycenaean civilization, seize to exist as well around 1100 BC. The things that were left behind like figurines of their gods and their art helped us paint a picture to find out their lifestyles and their beliefs back then of both of these
