Introduction-
Through many of the first civilizations, there were numerous similarities and differences. The two main similarities that I believe these great civilizations had were their legacies, and the fact that they each had irreplaceable contributions to modern cities, as well as their agriculture and how it affected and improved life as they knew it, and s we know it. The main difference they had was their location and trade, and how that proved to put obstacles in the way of their path to be the civilization they were in their own period.

In Jericho and Mesopotamia, they were both in regions in and near the fertile crescent. Because of the two rivers that run through the crescent, the Tigris and Euphrates, the land was extremely fertile and easy to grow crops. There was also evidence of trade between the two civilizations. Not much, but simple things such as shells. Mesoamerica lacked good soil. Because of the little to know rivers they had, it was very hard to irrigate. The used floating blocks of land called chinampas in order to get the water they needed. There was also not much trading between the Americas, because each civilization was to stretched out, and they basically had the same things to trade, there was little to no trading. Trading on a large scale did not come until the conquistadores came and traded riffles as well as horses. Mesoamerica also had numerous geographical challenges. There are many volcanoes up and down the West Coast of South America, which was where they were mainly settled. The volcanic ash also contributed to the lack of fertile soil in this region. In the civilization of the East, they also had oil that was inferior to the soil that of Jericho and Mesopotamia. Their soil was very silty, which makes growing crop quite difficult, There was also large droughts that occurred which disabled farming all together. Life was rough in East Asia. There was not much written about trade, but I can only imagine it was scarce. Considering there were so many settlements in such small areas, this probably led to battles and even wars over land. This probably meant there was not much trading going on between
