an interesting finding; there was a heighten level of hope in patients following an AMI as oppose to their partner. The study suggest, “One potential interpretation is that because of the life changing event, the AMI, the participants place a high value on their life and thus score higher levels of hope” (Eriksson et al., 2012, p.299). They reported, however, the couples score evened out eventually. This research study was relevant to my area of practice, thus I liked its content. It contained, however, two weaknesses. The Cronbach’s coefficient score for the mental health portion of the Short Form 36 (SF-36) was low at 0.56. Also, surveys were mailed to participants’ home and they were asked not to discuss the questions among each other.
Overall, I believe this was a good study.
